J.P. Licks. One of the reasons I love my neighborhood so much is that I live nice and close to a J.P. Licks. But if I moved to Jamaica Plain, I would still be nice and close to one, the original one (get it? J.P. Jamaica Plain??)! Plus, this location is where J.P. Licks roasts all their coffee and makes their ice cream. Even better than the one in Brookline!!
It might just be the fact that almost everyone I know is friends with an employee and can get things for free, but it seems to me like JP Licks is close to synonymous with ice cream in Boston. There are better-tasting places to go, in my opinion, but there’s something about JP Licks that’s just next to “ice cream” in my psychological dictionary. I guess that’s what they call “branding.”
