Because even the deepest undercover Brit agent would find time in his day for tea. Just imagine yourself as a character from a John Le Carre book.

Before Alice’s Tea Cup there was Tea and Sympathy, the impossibly British and cozy cavern down in Greenwich Village. You’ll feel like singing “twinkle twinkle little bat” after tasting one of their scones and you’ll probably leave with something Anglo-themed from the adjoining shoppe. Cheers.

I think “cozy” is an understatement. It borders on being uncomfortably snug, but I do like it. The clotted creme!!!!

My favorite place to go and sit with a book and a tea. The service can be a bit rude, but hey, this is New York, after all.

It's Tea Time in New York City!

When you’re craving some serious English tea time or your mum is in town, come here. Shepherd’s pie, bangers ’n mash, welsh rarebit, and good old-fashioned Yorkshire pudding are just a few of the traditional British items served up.

Beware: this place has got RULES! You can’t be seated till your entire party has arrived and you have to wait outside in the mean time. It’s super cramped inside, i.e., you worry about knocking over your porcelain tea pot, but the waitstaff takes care of you, just as you’d expect.
