There was a time when we could always look forward to it: a TV series' obligatory Christmas episode. Those were simpler days back then (pre-"War On Christmas" era) when we could always expect the same basic formula: one character embodies the Christmas spirit while the rest of the family is overwhelmed by the demands of the holidays. There have been a few Simpsons Christmas episodes since this one, but the first one still remains the best. Maybe it’s because we meet Santa’s Little Helper, or because the humor and the sentiment balance rather perfectly. Either way, gotta love Homer as Santa Claus.
