I'm SO Excited About Summer Movies and I Just Can't Hide It
Usually, I'm pretty blah about summer movies, but this year I am totally STOKED. Maybe it's because the recession has dashed my summer vacation dreams, and I don't have much else to look forward to, but I just can't wait to see some of these. What summer movie's got you peeing in your pants with anticipation?
Away We Go
Dave Eggers and Vendela Vida are two of my favorite writers (they also happen to be married), so you can imagine my excitement when I heard they had teamed up and written the screenplay for this movie. And if that weren’t enough, Sam Mendes directs it, and John Krasinski stars in it. I just might squeal.
A great read. I HIGHLY recommend it.
This book definitely has its critics, but if you’re a 20 or 30-something, it’s sort of required reading.
The Hangover
I thoroughly enjoyed Old School (I’ve loved Vince Vaughan ever since Swingers), but after hearing all the buzz about Zach Galifianakis in this movie, I think this might just take ridiculous male comedies to a whole ’nother level.
Even if the funniest parts of this movie are in the trailer I’m seeing this anyway. It looks redonkulous.
Whatever Works
I’m a big Woody Allen fan, and thanks to last year’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona my faith has been renewed in the nebbish writer-director. Throw in the fact that the movie stars Larry David (I think David and Allen should be heterosexual life partners), and this could be big.
500 Days of Summer
I’m a fan of Zooey Deschanel (ever since I saw her in one of my yoga classes I’ve felt “connected” to her), and after seeing the movie Brick I think Joseph Gordon Levitt is awesome. Factor in that this is a quirky, indie-esque romantic comedy and I am sold, I tell you, sold.
I'M EXCITED FOR SUMMER TO BE OVER....SO I CAN SEE NINE!
This movie by Rob Marshall, who did the movie Chicago is going to be fantassssic! It’s a musical, singing, dancing, drama- all that good stuff. Not to mention there’s some KICK ASS PEOPLE IN IT: Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Judi Dentch, Sophia Loren, and my FAV DANIEL-DAY LEWIS
Bruno
Borat was so amazing and I’m pretty sure this is supposed to be even better. I try SO hard not to like movies like this, but Sacha Baron Cohen just pulls me in. Can’t wait!

Public Enemies
Johnny Depp AND Christian Bale? I’m SO in.
Year One
Even though Michael Cera seems to be reprising the awkward, yet lovable, doofus role for the billionth time, I’m still itching to see this.
All of the funny bits are probably in the trailer, but who cares?
Funny People
I’m going to say something extremely controversial: I don’t really like Adam Sandler. That being said, I do have some faith in him thanks to Punch Drunk Love, and since I trust Judd Apatow and co. won’t lead my astray, I’m going to go ahead and put this one on my “to see” list.
Judd Apatow gets serious… well, sort of.
Or as I like to call it, “The Bible.”
Up
I am probably WAY too excited about this movie, but it looks so darn cute. I could just eat up the old man, the chubby little boy scout, and that overweight pup. So friggin’ cute.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Like the nerd that I am I’ve read all the Harry Potter books and seen all the movies, and like the short attention-spanned 20-something I’ve become, I can’t remember what happened in the last movie, or what the last movie was even called for that matter. But I’m still excited to see Harry and the gang writhing in all their adolescent angst.
Where The Wild Things Are
This was my all time favorite book when I was in elementary school, and I’ve probably never been so excited for an upcoming movie than I was when I saw the trailer for it! Yay. Bringing back the past!
Julia & Julia
This is pretty much my dream movie! Not only is it partly about Julia Child, but it’s a movie based on a book that’s based on a blog. I am so beyond excited for this!!

My Sister's Keeper
I saw a preview for this last night and it looked really, really good, though quite sad! But I love Cameron Diaz (and Abigail Breslin too), so I’m kind of excited for it!
