Beginner's guide to Sex and the City
Even though SATC has been around for quite some time now, it's still widely discussed. With the recent news of Sex and the City part 2, Emerald Dandy thought it best to provide you with a "cliff notes" version of the series. Haven't had a chance to watch the series? Want to know what all they hype over girls obsessed with sex and shoes is all about? Read on - you won't be disappointed.
From Season 1 – one of my favorite scenes, when Carrie admits her attraction to Mr. Big.
Season 2 - The Mystery of the Male
Big and small, sweethearts and assholes, young and old, Season 2 focuses primarily on the many different types of men out there. This season is important because we’re introduced to Steve – who plays a very important part in Miranda’s life.
Why you should watch this season: bondage, shoe fetishes, lightening bolts, power lesbians, and porn. To be completely honest, you don’t really need to watch this season. If you’re pressed for time – skip this season entirely, you’re not missing too much!
Season 4 - The girls have feelings after all
The first 3 seasons had been a lot of great nights out with even greater stories the day after. This season we begin to see true feelings and emotions emerge through many different themes. Growing older, spending life alone, losing loved ones and gaining them, personal dilemmas, physical ones, all things that us “real folk” are used to experiencing on a regular basis. Finally we begin to see that the girls in fact, do have feelings.
Why you should watch this season: bedazzled panties, eating it on the runway, lesbian love, fake nips, Young MacDonald, the Vogue Accessory closet, broken water, and threesomes.
Season 6 - The Season of Season's
Where to even begin. Season 6 takes the cake as not only being the longest running season, but also having the most occur to the leading ladies. In the love department: Carrie dates Berger, the author who has a horrible way of breaking up with her. She also dates Petrovsky, the overly romantic Russian, and of course, Big comes back into the picture once again. Charlotte marries Harry, her divorce lawyer. Samantha finds a man known as Smith, and Miranda dates a doctor but ends up marrying Steve. Not only was there love and heartbreak, but more life lessons: cancer, religion, deaths, and falling in love. I could go on, but I don’t want to give this season away – if there was one season you had to watch before going to see the movie(s), this would most certainly be it.
Why to watch this season: full frontal, romance, absolute hunk, bozo the bush, wigs, sex tapes, paris, and a post-it note.
Season 1 - Sexpectations
Having sex like a man. Sex with models, sex with young men, sexual secrets, sex, sex, sex. Season 1 brought about virtually every sexual topic one could think of. Oh, and, how could we forget the introduction of Mr. Big, a very important character in the series.
Why you should watch this season: to acquaint yourself with the ladies of New York, understand why it’s good the 90s are dead, and see an overwhelming amount of gratuitous sex.
For a more in depth detail on each season.
Season 3 - Drama, Drama, and more Drama
Firefighters, trannies, dildo models, and bisexuals. From Staten Island and the Meat Packing District to the Playboy Mansion and many places in between, Season 3 is definitely one not to miss. This season we’re introduced to Aidan Shaw, one of 3 important men in Carrie Bradshaw’s life, as well as Trey MacDougal, Charlotte’s first husband.
Why you should watch this season: Sex on a firetruck, playboy bunnies, funky spunk, and sex on a swing are just a few reasons you should tune into Season 3.
Another in-depth look at Carrie Bradshaw – star of the show.
Season 5 - Filler
Season 5 was a short one due to Carrie and Miranda both having babies (in real life). Being shorter than most seasons, there isn’t really anything but filler. Again, if you’re in a hurry to get through the seasons, you could probably pass on this one.
Why you should watch this season: San Fran, Atlantic City, cocoa butter bitches, neck massagers, a Hampton’s wedding, and the navy boys of fleet week.
