Pretty People With Dogs

I call this place the Famous People Dog Park. It is much swanker, cleaner and landscapeder than the Silverlake park. Everyone is always dressed up, the dogs are as snobby as the people and once I saw Tori Spelling here with her pug.

Those used to sprawling wilderness off the beaten path may be unimpressed by the paved splendor of Runyon Canyon. However, it is one of the few places in Los Angeles that you can let your dog run free. Dogs and people are really friendly, the views of L.A. sprawl are amazing and if you take off your shirt, you’ll probably get at least one Missed Connection.

If you can drag yourself out of bed in the AM hours of a Sunday (Sunday has an AM now?), head down to the Hollywood Farmer’s Market. Tucked behind the Sunset & Vine complex, you’ll run into Gyllenhaals pushing strollers, Stefanis tugging on leashes and a lot of earthy-types gushing about Organic, Green and Public Transportation.

Though the park itself is little more than a swath of dirt and a couple of benches on the shores of Silverlake Resevoir, it’s almost always teeming with Silverlake locals (read: hipsterish creative-types) and their four-legged pick-up lines. Go during the week to have your pick of telecommuters.
