Lewis And Clark Monument Mountain Bike Trail

Council Bluffs, Iowa N 41 ° 18.218' | W 95 ° 51.438' Sweet singletrack on Lewis and Clark trail, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Pretty technical, lots of winding curves and steep sections. Some of the trails are obviously hiking, but there are plenty of paths for a great workout, and extremely fun ride. Very beautiful scenery on top of hill (elevation approx 1,000ft) and surrounding area. The monument itself is worth a stop there.

Located north of Big Lake Park, this site was dedicated in 1936 to honor the 1804 expedition of Lewis & Clark and their historic meeting with Otoe and Missouria tribesmen. Its overlook offers a fantastic view of the Missouri River valley.

I rode it in sort of a counter-clockwise direction but I think riding it clock-wise might have been more fun. Either direction, you’re going to be doing some climbing and decending no matter what. And you’ll also be ending your ride with a gnarly (dare I say, “extreme”) climb up to the top of the bluff. I’d make sure that front derailleur is shifting properly prior to riding this trail. http://www.wildlifeworld360.com

I live in Oregon now. I drove XC from Jersey, happened to pass the memorial on the way out. I drove in, got out to look around and after some exploring, hiking the area, I realized there is accessible sinlgetrack, so I ran back to the truck and pulled my bike down to hit the trails. Its been on the cold side here as well, Im looking forward to the warmer weather to get out more as well..I plan on posting some trails local to me.. Thanks for checkin it out!
