Lessons You Can Learn from Grey's Anatomy
If you aren't one of the THOUSANDS of cult following Grey's Anatomy lovers, you're really missing out. Besides the fact that the actors are all incredible, the writers are even better. I mean, Hallmark card good....if you know what I mean. Grey's reminds you that life is fleeting and delicate; tell the people you love how much you love them, follow your heart, weddings aren't for everyone, and the list goes on. So whether you're a Grey's Anatomy fan or not, these are lessons for everyone!
Meredith is a wise bird:
“At some point, you have to make a decision. Boundaries don’t keep other people out. They fence you in. Life is messy. That’s how we’re made. So, you can waste your lives drawing lines. Or you can live your life crossing them. But there are some lines… that are way too dangerous to cross.”
Exposing yourself isn't always easy....
" Intimacy is a four syllable word for, “Here’s my heart and soul, please grind them into hamburger, and enjoy.” It’s both desired, and feared. Difficult to live with, and impossible to live without. Intimacy also comes attached to the three R’s… relatives, romance, and roommates. There are some things you can’t escape. And other things you just don’t want to know."
IT'S OK TO BEG:
“Okay, here it is, your choice… it’s simple, her or me, and I’m sure she is really great. But Derek, I love you, in a really, really big pretend to like your taste in music, let you eat the last piece of cheesecake, hold a radio over my head outside your window, unfortunate way that makes me hate you, love you. So pick me, choose me, love me.”
IT ISN'T ALWAYS EASY TO SAY HOW YOU FEEL:
“Communication. It’s the first thing we really learn in life. Funny thing is, once we grow up, learn our words and really start talking the harder it becomes to know what to say. Or how to ask for what we really need.”
DON'T GIVE AWAY THE MILK FOR FREE....BE PICKY:
“For a kiss to be really good, you want it to mean something. You want it to be with someone you can’t get out of your head, so that when your lips finally touch you feel it everywhere. A kiss so hot and so deep you never want to come up for air. You can’t cheat your first kiss. Trust me, you don’t want to. Cause when you find that right person for a first kiss, it’s everything. "

WE CAN'T GET THROUGH LIFE ALONE:
“At the end of the day, when it comes down to it, all we really want is to be close to somebody. So this thing, where we all keep our distance and pretend not to care about each other, is usually a load of bull. So we pick and choose who we want to remain close to, and once we’ve chosen those people, we tend to stick close by. No matter how much we hurt them, the people that are still with you at the end of the day – those are the ones worth keeping. And sure, sometimes close can be too close. But sometimes, that invasion of personal space, it can be exactly what you need. "
IT'S OK IF YOU AREN'T INTO THE WHOLE "WEDDING THING"
Even when you've grown apart, true friendships always last:
YOU DON'T ALWAYS HAVE TO BE THE BEST:
“It’s a long road, and when you get to the end of it, you’re not going to care about winning. You’re just going to be relieved you made it to the finish line.”
So you want to be a Dr? These are some of the BEST med schools:
PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES:
“Just because people do horrible things… it doesn’t always mean they are horrible people.”
BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF:
“Sometimes reality has a way of sneaking up and biting us in the ass. And when the dam bursts, all you can do is swim. The world of pretend is a cage, not a cocoon. We can only lie to ourselves for so long. We are tired, we are scared, denying it doesn’t change the truth. Sooner or later we have to put aside our denial and face the world. Head on, guns blazing. De Nile. It’s not just a river in Egypt, it’s a freakin’ ocean. So how do you keep from drowning in it?”
Let yourself FALL in love...
“At the end of the day faith is a funny thing. It turns up when you don’t really expect it. Its like one day you realize that the fairy tale may be slightly different than you dreamed. The castle, well, it may not be a castle. And its not so important happy ever after, just that its happy right now. See once in a while, once in a blue moon, people will surprise you , and once in a while people may even take your breath away”

Seattle is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is located in the U.S. state of Washington between Puget Sound and Lake Washington, nearly 108 miles (174 km) south of the United States–Canadian border in King County, of which it is the county seat.
Seattle was founded in the 1850s and named after Chief Seattle, also known as Noah Sealth. As of 2006, the city had an estimated population of 570,430 and a metropolitan population of around 3.1 million. Seattle is the hub for the Greater Puget Sound region. Its official nickname is the Emerald City because of the lush evergreen trees in the surrounding area; it is also referred to as the Rainy City, the Gateway to Alaska, Queen City, and Jet City, due to the local influence of Boeing. Seattle residents are known as Seattleites.
Seattle is known as the birthplace of grunge music, and it has a reputation for heavy coffee consumption: locally founded coffee companies include Starbucks and Tully's Coffee. Seattle was also the site of the 1999 meeting of the World Trade Organization, and the attendant demonstrations by anti-globalization activists, which were in keeping with Seattle's Democratic history and reputation for liberal politics. Researchers at Central Connecticut State University ranked Seattle the most literate city in America in 2005.
Based on per capita income, Seattle ranks 36th of 522 studied areas in the state of Washington.

It ALL takes place at Seattle Grace Hospital
…don’t try to go there to get a checkup, cause it actually doesn’t exist. THOUGH- you could attempt driving by the set in Burbank, CA.

"This is a good day to save lives. Let's have some fun."
Derek Shepard.
This is precisely why being a Dr. must be so amazing.
CELEBRATE "SMALL" VICTORIES:
“Maybe we’re not supposed to be happy. Maybe gratitude has nothing to do with joy. Maybe being grateful means recognizing what you have for what it is. Appreciating small victories. Admiring the struggle it takes simply to be human. Maybe we’re thankful for the familiar things we know. And maybe we’re thankful for the things we’ll never know. At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing is reason enough to celebrate.”
LIFE IS SHORT, DON'T BE AFRAID TO BREAK THE RULES- DO WHAT YOU LOVE:
“I’ve been lying in this bed for close to a year, and I’ve had a lot of time to look back on my life. And the things that I remember best – those are the things I wasn’t supposed to do and I did them anyway. The thing is, life is too damn short to be following these rules.”
Denny Duckett
THESE THREE THINGS CAN CURE ANYTHING:
“I need a drink, a man, or a massage. Or a drunken massage by a man”
Cristina Yang
Lessons:
- No matter what there will always be an overachiever or somewhere better, trying to be better than you-don’t compare yourself to anyone.
- Don’t get hung up on your past.
- Never steal another woman’s man.
- Don’t start a relationship with anyone just because you’re lonely.
- If he/she really loves you, they won’t let you go.
- Sometimes a good night at the bar with a few friends, peanuts and beer can cure anything.
- Never work for your Mom’s ex-lover
- Don’t operate out of FEAR.
- “People are better than no people”
- Some people have neurotic baking obsessions, just eat their food and don’t complain.
- Plastic surgeons can be a bit douchey.
- Sometimes it’s ok to mix work and play.
THE TRUTH IS ALWAYS THE BEST WAY, EVEN WHEN IT'S HARD:
“KN0WING IS BETTER THEN W0NDERING, WALKING IS BETTER THEN SLEEPING, & EVEN THE BIGGEST FAILURE BEATS THE HELL OUT 0F NEVER TRYING”
"Because I believe that, we can be extraordinary together rather than ordinary apart."
Being addicted, to anything, never ends well:
“The thing about addiction is, it never ends well. Because eventually, whatever it is that was getting us high, stops feeling good, and starts to hurt. Still, they say you don’t kick the habit until you hit rock bottom. But how do you know when you are there? Because no matter how badly a thing is hurting us, sometimes, letting it go hurts even worse.”
Pain is part of life, it's learning how to cope with it:
“Maybe we like the pain. Maybe we’re wired that way. Because without it, I don’t know; maybe we just wouldn’t feel real. What’s that saying? Why do I keep hitting myself with a hammer? Because it feels so good when I stop.”Meredith Grey
