Everyone wants great, fresh, cheap produce. But where do you get it? Excellent question, Mr. Rhetorical Question Man! Clearly, the answer can be found at your local Farmer's Market. But when you're living in the Bay Area, Farmer's Markets are a dime a dozen. Which ones are the best? Share your favorite places and talk a little bit about why you love them so much
This is one of the big ones that really touched off the renovation of the Ferry Plaza. Once upon a time, the Ferry Building was just boats and commuters, and then they got the bright idea to start selling crazy fresh produce right out front. From that, people figured that folks would buy classy stuff all week long, and they completely redid the whole terminal. Next time you’re eating some Cowgirl Creamery Cheese or getting a Gelaito before catching a boat, thank the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market.

Berkeley Farmers Market
Center Street (at MLK) Berkeley, CA 94704
If you don’t want to enter the insanity that is Berkeley Bowl and you want to pick up some organic fruits and veggies, then this Saturday morning market (it goes from 10am to 3pm) is the place to go. If you’re just interested in organics then you should also consider hitting up the Thursday afternoon/evening farmers market on Shattuck and Rose—it’s all organic all the time.
