Downtown

Several various unique neighborhoods, but all of "Downtown" is to where Transit and the streets flow. It is where I go when I want to feel like Herb Caen, Gary Cooper, or a metro, or even where W go to just get a good Sammy or some Fish and Chips. Always beautiful people everywhere, and unique experiences to treasure abound, hidden around every corner.

Another “blue” restaurant, also run By Micheal Mina. Excellent food, a splendid bar and hot staff make this hot spot hip. Advertized only by the picture windows on the street, the suits and skirts one sees can be quite baiting. I love the high ceilings and decor as well.

The mascot and centrepiece of Urban Tavern

Urban Tavern

Under the Hilton on O’Farrell street, a prime location for the Yuppies to migrate from the Financial District, to hang out at before or after a show on Geary, or even for families hiking around. It only opened last Thursday, but there are three unique niches: a formal dining room tucked into the back, a hopping Marble Bar area with a hot lounge section exposed to the street, and a cocktail / dining area centered around a common table. The chef and management are hand-picked from Micheal Mina’s restaurant group. Perfectly cooked Halibut and Salmon plates, excellently followed up by a decadent Peach Melba light, refreshing Sangria float. Almost every detail was hand-picked with loving care, from the wall decor, crystal lamp-covers, pine rafters and seating to the mascot: an eight-hand model horse built from… antique car parts.

I really don’t know how I ended up here in North Beach. Last thing I knew I was at Harringtons on Front Street, but the Glenmorangie must have got away from me. Not that I’m Complaining, this is a great bar during the week.

The King George Hotel - Union Square offers the perfect San Francisco location. Our hotel shares sidewalks with fine dining, world class shopping, theatre, Moscone Convention Center, Convention Hotels and San Francisco's world famous cable car line to Fisherman's Wharf. You will immediately notice our comfort and warmth. A tradition of charm and personal service have been our hallmark since we first opened our doors in 1914. Our amenities are distinctly up-to-date, including complimentary in-room wired DSL access, but our hospitality and our rates are wonderfully old-fashioned.In the heart of downtown the King George Hotel is just three blocks from the Powell Street BART station, which now services both Oakland (OAK) and San Francisco (SFO) International Airports. We look forward to making the King George Hotel your home away from home while you are a guest in San Francisco.

A great example of Indy theatre in SF, They currently are utilizing "the “Exit Stage Left” Theatre on Mason street, which has a super-sweet lounge and cafe. I saw “Pride Open” there, a montage on identity that was masterfully displayed.

One of my favorite nightspots, and not just because it’s “Blue.” Great mixed drinks, it was a frequent watering hole when we would get off work at E&O, and hosts DJ’s regularly, and they clear the floor for dancing.

Located in North Beach on Telegraph Hill, the tower can be reached by climbing the steep, but lovely Filbert Street steps.

Macy's West

Stockton & Ofarrell, San Francisco, CA 94101

It’s the Harrod’s of San Francisco, and actually covers two blocks. The basement has a food court that hosts a Wolfgang Puck restaurant as well as a Ben and Jerry’s, and it’s fun to go up to the third or fourth floor to overlook union square.

Now after working for a Sicilian, I typically don’t frequent Italian restaurants, but Pazzia serves up Toscana faire better than most… that’s northern Italy, for all of you who don’t speak Siccilian… I had the Veal scallopine, perfectionne, and the raviolis I tried were simply Fabeaux… agreeable (and cute) servers kept it authentico, as Boss Massimo made sure we didn’t want for anything. “That’s Amore!!!”

Always a delight to partake of Chef Barney’s cuisine, I usually sit at the bar. I rarely get to eat Sushi, but the Dragon Roll is a favorite of mine, and the drinks are always superbly blended. (p.s. try the Kobe beef sliders… unbef*@knigleavable).

The dark wood tones and sleek lines really serve to make this underground wine bar a class act. They also have catering available to help alleviate the potential damage done by the ten different wineries that hold court here.
