Fa La La: Christmas Songs Re-Made by Popular Artists
I'm no Scrooge, but I get really sick of Christmas music. I mean, I've been hearing it every year since I was born; so I'm not surprised it starts to drive me nuts after 26 years. You too? That's what I thought. Nothing makes me happier than when a cool musician or band re-makes a holiday song or writes their own. Something new to listen to at Christmas time! New holiday songs make the holiday season feel a bit more fresh and actually give me something to look forward to. What's your favorite Christmas song that's not a "classic"? Or done in a cool way by someone new? Post the YouTube video or just tell me! And it's OK if you want to say Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You." I understand.
I am a huge lover of Michael Buble and his voice really gets me into the holiday spirit. Plus, “Grown Up Christmas List” isn’t an overdone holiday song, but it’s a beautiful one.
Duh, it’s The Killers. Anything they do is amazing in my eyes. Though this song is actually kind of horrible and the video even worse, I’m really pretty obsessed with it as far as Christmas music goes.
I love this one. Very Merry.
Again, Adam Levine can do no wrong in my book either. Adam and the boys of Maroon 5 do a fabulous version of “Happy Christmas (War is Over)”
Beyonce’s version of “Ave Maria” made me really happy at this year’s Rockefeller Center tree lighting. SO beautiful! I never realized how much I like this song until I heard her sing it.
“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” has always been one of my very favorite holiday songs and Chrissy Hynde’s voice is so perfect for it, now I won’t listen to any other version.
