Aside from America’s favorite pastime of major league baseball, our other pastime happens to be found with tasty, meaty, cheesy burgers and the millions of different ways that we have configured to make them. Like hotdogs, cheeseburgers and burgers are the quintessential American food. Just go anywhere in the continental US and you will able to catch a burger. In fact, most restaurants serve burgers even if they are not burger joints, all to appease the ever so present demand by their customers for gilled beef patties with an assortment of toppings. If you find yourself in the sunny, desert of Arizona make sure that you find some time to stop into these fantastic burger joints. They are the best that AZ has to offer!
If you have not been keeping up on the medical banter that surrounds the consuming of burgers and the effects that they can have on your health and your heart, don’t worry! Heart Attack Grill has got all of the bases covered. Imagine a cartooned-styled cheeseburger that meets a 50’s styled drive-thru diner, and combine that with the sexy and classy girls of Hooters, bake at 450 degrees for twenty minutes and you will have the Heart Attack Grill in Tempe, AZ.
Not only is this place rightly named, they have frequently been the center of very many news broadcasts and reports due to their very large and very fatty burgers and sandwiches, their late-night hours and of course the beautiful and scantily clad girls who serve their delightful, if not calorie-enhanced meals. About a 15 minute drive from central phoenix will take you to the Heart Attack Grill—which only serves burgers, fried favorites and of course, milkshakes and sodas. A 50’s style diner greets you, where you can choose to dine in, or drive through. Your order will be taken by very pretty girls wearing next to nothing. But all that hub bub aside, the real attraction to this place is their amazingly large and very decadent burgers. With 100’s of combinations to choose from, they also feature several customer favorites.
The Triple Bypass burger is my favorite. Made any way that you want it, this heaping pile of meat, cheese and veggies will satisfy even the biggest and hungriest person on the planet. It features four, count them four, quarter-pound beef patties, topped with 8 pieces of cheese and stacked with veggies. You can also add bacon, sautéed mushrooms and whatever you like from their immensely appeasing menu. Their milkshakes are some of the best in the state and their prices are pretty damn good too. The inside of the diner is very clean and very attractive, and you can watch their master-burger-makers grilling and flipping your order to perfection.
Rating based upon personal experience: * five stars for customer service, cleanliness, location and prices. The best burger joint in AZ, hands down!
One of the best burger joints in Arizona, they offer a totally different system. You pick your burger out of their meat selection and then you pick the size of the burger. They then grill it to perfection and call your order up on the loudspeaker. Finally, you take your burger to the condiments bar where you can top it with more than 50 different items. Great prices, good beer selection and ample seating make this place a win-win for burger joints in AZ.

With several locations throughout AZ, Red Robin has stood the test of time for small burger joints. They currently are offering the triple sirloin burger, a combination of three types of high-quality ground steak. Their prices are comparable to most sit-in restaurants that specialize in burgers. You can also order beer from their impressive beer menu and even buy a custom beer glass to take home with you. Downsides are that fact that sometimes the service can be lousy and their prices are a bit higher than other places.

Most people will find a TGI Friday’s location near them, as this is a national franchise. However, this does not mean that they do not serve great burgers. They offer a sirloin burger that is huge and weighs in at a half pound, and of course is some of the tastiest meat you will ever sink your teeth into. The national thing aside, TGI Fridays offers great beer selection, awesome service and damn tasty burgers at great prices, and they have plenty of locations around the state.

One of the most popular up-and-coming burger franchises has finally made its debut in Arizona. Spurred on by their many celebrity clientele that are seen frequenting the place, like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, this place is simply put VERY popular. They only serve three different kinds of burgers, which are all made the same. They have great prices and great customer service in a 50’s like environment. A major downside is that this place is so popular that there is always a HUGE line to take your order and you can almost never find a place to sit inside or outside.

Heart Attack Grill Boasts the Biggest Burger in AZ!
This is a real picture of the Triple Bypass Burger from Heart Attack Grill in Tempe, AZ. It seems that the creators appropriately named this monstrous hulk of meat and cheese.
Simply Burgers specializes in one main entrée, the best freaking burgers you could ever hope to wrap your lips around buddy! This burger joint takes a fair twist on the way that other burger joints operate. Instead they pride themselves on a decadent and lavish, well-kept interior that features an orange theme and large-screen plasma TVs inside, as well as ample beer selection. Imagine a bar that is not a bar, and a burger joint that is more modernized and appealing inside. That aside, their burgers speak for themselves. They offer many different varieties of burgers and milkshakes, my favorite is the double-bacon burger, a stacked two-patty burger meal with plenty of cheese, crisp veggies and of course really thick and greasy bacon.
Their prices are a little bit higher than you will pay at most burger joints, perhaps because they only use Angus beef which costs a bit more. You can order large drafts or pitchers if you have a group of friends that are thirsty for good beer; which they have plenty selection of. Unlike the great number of sports bars that also offer burgers and the such, Simply Burgers offers an unparalleled fare. One that separates it just from another sports bar, one that offers juicy, marinated beef patties that are grilled to perfection and topped with fresh items.
Their customer service is pretty good too, but if they are packed expect a little bit of a wait. The inside of the restaurant is clean and their bathrooms are some of the cleanest that I have ever used. If you are looking for quality ingredients, decent prices and good beer selection in a non-bar atmosphere, head to Simply Burgers. Rating based upon personal experience: ** four stars for cleanliness, customer service and food, but their prices are high and their beer selection could use a bit more if they intend to truly separate themselves from being a sports bar.
The world of cheeseburgers just got a little bit more 1950’s, that is if you happen to find yourself at one of largest shopping centers in the state, Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall. When you are not shopping at 230+ stores, satisfy your hunger by dropping in at Johnny Rockets in the food court. Unlike most mall food stores, Johnny Rockets is a might bit different. Featuring a very 50’s atmosphere, inclusive of shiny and sparkling red stools, a long 50’s counter, the clocks, the uniforms on the employees and lets not forget the 1950’s oldies music blaring from overhead speakers. This burger joint is great. You can order a number of different styled burgers here, I happen to prefer the basic bacon cheeseburger meal, which runs about $9.
Just grab a seat at their bar and you will be served by friendly waiters who have all the flair—from making custom milkshakes to popping straws out of 50’s straw holders, they have got it all here! The cooks are a treat to watch in action as well. They have some sort of secret system to making some of the best burgers in AZ—which are shipped in fresh everyday from the local butcher.
Order the burger that you fancy, any way that you like it, and watch as their master cooks prepare it before your very eyes. Spatulas fly up in the air and do somersaults, always landing perfectly in the cook’s hands as he then presses the meat against the grill. Their famous triple burger flip adds unique flare to the art of making the perfect burger as well. Not to mention that they happen to boast the BEST milkshakes in AZ. If you are looking for a well-priced, service-enhanced burger joint in AZ, Johnny Rockets has got your bases covered! Rating based upon personal experience: * three stars, although clean sometimes the place can get dirty, long lines and wait time, and of course the mall location take away from a great burger joint.
America's Favorite Food Pastime!
Even though they are fatty and bad for us, most Americans will admit that they are hopelessly addicted to this delicious, greasy fare.
