Breakfast or Brunch—the Four Best Places to dine in Scottsdale!

Share on StumbleUpon Add to del.icio.us Share on Facebook

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, or so they say. Just ask anybody you know where the best breakfast spots to eat are in their city and I am certain they will have plenty of places to tell you about. The same is true for Scottsdale, Arizona. This decadent city has plenty to offer the early-rising hungry person. If you find yourself in the Valley of the Sun, and you are early-to-rise, make sure you check out some of these great morning eateries, they are of the very best that this city has to offer in the realm of breakfast eats.

Original Pancake House the

6840 E Camelback Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251

If you are looking for not only breakfast, but an experience all together, then your very best bet lays in eating breakfast at the Original Pancake House. Founded in the early 1900’s by a farmer settling in Portland, Oregon, this establishment is famous around the world for their amazing pancake and breakfast creations.

You will not find better breakfast food or service anywhere in the state. This restaurant is only open for breakfast and closes at 1pm sharp. They do not accept reservations and due to the popularity of the place expect a 30-50 minute wait, no exceptions.

The exterior is very plain and almost makes this place a hole-in-the-wall, but what really matters is the food, which is simply put both extravagant and delectable. Once you manage to get a table inside you will be treated to the typical interior of any small café (it has seating for about 50 patrons) small tables and wooden booths, and aging chairs that are semi-comfortable.

However, the place itself and the interior aside, it is the food that attracts the many hungry customers every morning. They feature everything pancakes and them some! My favorite dish here and the one that really has catapulted their menu to garner worldwide praise, is their Apple Pancake. Your server will warn you that this specialty dish takes about an hour to prepare, so you may want to order a side of eggs and bacon to dig into while you are waiting.

Another thing to note about this dish is that the portions are humongous. Make sure that you have someone with you to share. Otherwise you will be taking several to-go boxes home with you. Another great dish is their salami omelet, a four egg omelet that has slices of salami cooked right into the center of it; yummy!

Rating based upon personal experience: * five stars, although I will rarely rate a restaurant that has poor décor and long waits with such a coveted rating, this place has the best breakfast food that you will ever eat, hands down!

Arcadia Farms Café

Arcadia Farms

7014 E 1st Ave, Scottsdale, AZ 85251

A very well-known restaurant in Phoenix for breakfast, brunch, lunch and delicious catering has finally made its debut in Scottsdale. The Arcadia Farms Café in South Scottsdale is a far cry from the size and girth of its central Phoenix location; however the fare, the service and the prices are still the same. They offer a traditional breakfast consistent with the quid-pro-quo of American morning eats. However, they also happen to make several specialty dishes such as their stacked omelet, which is a huge four-egg omelet that has just about everything under the sun in it and costs about $12.

The outside of the café is very nice, if not in-par with the rest of the shops in the surrounding area. Once inside you will be greeted by a friendly host who will seat you, or take your name if there is a line, which frequently there is. What sets this place apart from many other nearby eateries is their five-star service and the presentation, and most importantly the taste of their breakfast. Expect the very best when you order a meal here and this is exactly what you will get.

Most of their cooks attended or are currently working towards a degree from the astute Scottsdale Culinary Institute (a Cordon Blu School of cooking) and it clearly shows in the fashion that they decadently present their main entrees. The prices are about average and the inside is spacious, but it can get pretty loud on a Sunday morning. Rating based upon personal experience: ** four stars, while the food is great and so is the service, the popularity of this place quite often creates a long wait to get seated and to get served.

Eggery the

50 E Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85012

The newest breakfast and brunch eatery in the South Scottsdale area, this restaurant is simply put, really popular. They do not currently accept reservations—which is a major downside. Quite often there is a line seen wrapping around the exterior of the building. The place recently opened and features a very large, brick building set along South Scottsdale Road, ironically positioned across the street from Denny’s.

The Eggery employs master chefs who whip up some of the most uncanny egg creations that you will ever lay your eyes upon. The prices are a little bit high due to the gourmet flare offered, but the perfect dish, presentation and a full stomach, along with excellent service await you once you sit to dine here; if you can get a seat that is.

The Famous Apple Pancake at the Original Pancake House

One of the most famous items on the menu, the Apple Pancake, is a towering hulk of pastry dough, pancake concoctions and of course, apples. Almost like a breakfast-styled, pancake version of apple pie, this fare will cost you $20 and takes about an hour to make. But the wait is well worth once you dig in!

First Watch is a top-rated breakfast joint in AZ. Click the above link to read a recent review about this establishment.

First Watch

61 W Thomas Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85013

One of the best-known and the longest-standing breakfast spots in Scottsdale is still one of the very best to dine at. The First Watch has forever and a day been one of the most popular places to grab breakfast or brunch at for more than twenty years. The outside is fashioned after a ship dock, hence the name, and features large, wooden pillars with ropes—which is consistent with the interior décor. However, they do not serve seafood here so do not be confused.

They serve breakfast and that’s it; the place closes at 2pm everyday. Once you wade your way through the long lines and get your name on the list, about twenty minutes or so later you will typically be offered a seat. Throngs of people gather at the doorway of this restaurant every morning waiting to be the first to get in and try their famous Mexican-themed breakfast fare. My favorite dish here is the Huevos Rancheros, two eggs, over-easy, atop a blanket of tortillas and doused in cheeses, sided with hash browns and bacon. While you may have to wait a while to actually get a table here, the wait is well worth it once you do get in.

Great service and a friendly staff as well as a very clean interior and some excellent, if not different, breakfast foods await you. They also serve American breakfast foods such as omelets, pancakes and waffles and crapes that will leave your tongue hanging out the side of your mouth. Rating based upon personal experience: ** four stars for cleanliness, prices and service, however it is hard to hear inside and the extremely long wait takes away from what otherwise is a great breakfast joint.

Windows on the Green

Widget_bnyolqsffbyket3icryrme

A five-star, gourmet breakfast and brunch restaurant located in one of the finest and the largest resorts in Scottsdale, AZ.

Windows on the Green Website

Phoenician Resort the

Scottsdale, AZ 85250

Windows on the Green is located in the center of the resort, upstairs and overlooking the tee greens of their 18-hole golf course. If you like gourmet, this place is for you. However, be prepared to pay for it. The typical Sunday brunch costs $75 per person but it is damn well worth it.

They have specialty chefs cooking up custom omelets and crapes, made to order and boy are they wonderfully delicious. They also offer the standard fair in their buffet-style brunch: eggs in many varieties, smoked bacon, ham, fresh fruit, muffins, bagels, fine cereals and about a hundred other tasty eats. For $75 you can eat and drink as much as you want and gratuity is already included! Rating based upon personal experience: * I would expect nothing less from a resort of this stature, simply amazing!

Good Egg the

6149 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85250

Centrally located in South Scottsdale, the Good Egg has been around for years, and it is not because they have an easy to remember name. The interior is typical of your standard breakfast eatery, nice tables and chairs, although spaced a little bit too close together. At the Good Egg you can enjoy all things eggs. They have hundreds of styles of omelets and egg entrees they have created, or you can easily tell them what you like and they will be happy to slap it on a grill and cook it up to perfection for you. Amply priced meals and good service make this place a real winner.
