You think it's chilly now? Well, it's only going to get colder and colder in Boston. There's nothing worse than treking through the city and being absolutely freezing. Luckily, I'm an expert when it comes to staying warm in Boston. I hate being cold, so I make sure to have all the proper apparel and accessories available at all times to stay warm. Don't wait until you can't bear to leave your apartment before you pick up these goods. I'm warning you; it's going to get cold out there and you're going to need to be prepared. Brrr.
North Face Fleece
The North Face fleece works right about now, but as it gets colder outside it will work less and less. However, throwing a hooded sweatshirt under the North Face fleece generally helps and allows you to wear the fleece comfortably all winter long.
Fur Hooded North Face
Now this is what you wear when it gets really frigid outside. I try to hold off on wearing my big fur hooded North Face for as long as possible because I know I’ll be wearing it for the next 5 months and that makes me really, really sad. However, this jacket is SO warm, I call it the human heater. Putting it on is like heaven. But it’s not so fun whenever you have to get on a mode of public transportation with 1,800 other people and the heat blasting. Then you might pass out. But it’s worth it to beat the cold for a bit.

The North Face store is probably my favorite store in the world. There’s nothing like looking cute AND being all warm and prepared for winter. And the North Face does that for me. I actually try to stay away from this store because I will want everything way too badly.

Uggs
No, I don’t care how ugly you think they are. When it’s negative degrees out, try on a pair and see how quickly you want to take them off. They are the warmest, most comfortable shoes/boots in the world and I’m really not sure I could get through a New England winter without them. Just looking at them makes me feel all warm and snuggly inside.

Oh, Ugg outlet. You are very hit or miss. Sometimes you have exactly what I want at a super awesome price (tall brown zip up Uggs!) and sometimes you have absolutely nothing that I would consider putting near my feet. It’s worth a try though because you can get Uggs at fabulous prices.

Mittens
I think mittens are so much more warm and cozy than gloves and I love these ones because they are waterproof. I hate that you can’t move your hands around with mittens on, but it’s worth it that I’m warm. I would wear mittens all winter long if I could.
Winter Hats
I used to refuse to wear a winter hat because they mess up my hair and make me look really silly. But now I don’t really care about all that looking good stuff. Because desperate times (i.e. cold weather) call for desperate measures (i.e. hat wearing) and when push comes to shove, I’d rather be warm than look good. And I just have to make sure not to have bangs in the winter.

Sweatpants
Sweatpants are basically what I live in during the winter. They are soo warm and comfy and it takes a lot to get me to take them off and put tight, cold jeans on. If it were acceptable to wear sweatpants 24 hours a day in public, i would do it.
Warm Hooded Sweatshirt
A warm hooded sweatshirt is also a winter essential, and it pairs nicely with those sweatpants. I really like the above one and have needed a Johnny Cupcakes sweatshirt for a while now. What better to keep me warm than a hooded sweatshirt and cupcakes?

Long Underwear
I’m not going to lie. Sometimes on the coldest, most frigid days of the season, you’ll find me throwing on a pair of long underwear pants under my jeans. I mean, sometimes jeans just aren’t thick enough; especially when there’s precipitation involved. I have no shame in that, perhaps wearing long underwear isn’t the most sexy thing. But it’s the warmest thing. And really, that’s all I care about when the winter weather hits.
Warm Socks
Warm socks are an essential during the winter. You would probably be shocked and disgusted to see just how many pairs of socks I have, but they are lifesavers in the winter. Sometimes I even throw on 2 pairs, especially if I know it’s wet outside. There’s nothing worse than cold, wet feet!

Flannel Sheets
Flannel sheets are kind of a catch 22. They are sooo nice to crawl into at night. You get all snuggled up and for a few hours, you can forget about what the weather is doing outside. Then you wake up in the morning and are still soo nice and warm. The only problem is that you actually have to get out of bed at some point. And going from a flannel sheeted bed to the cold hardwood floors of my apartment is never a fun thing. Until I reach the nice hot shower at least.

Tassimo
A Tassimo is essential during the winter. Well, really at all times. All you have to do is hit a button and you have a nice hot cup of coffee. This most definitely beats having to walk down the street to Starbucks. I couldn’t live without my Tassimo.

Leggings
Yes, Lindsay Lohan gave leggings a bad name, but I don’t really care. I wear them because they keep me warm. Sometime I want to wear a dress in the chilly weather, but I fear I’ll freeze to death. So throw on a pair of leggings underneath and you’re good to go. Thank you, La Lohan.
