7 Ways To Ensure My Happy (Boston) Birthday

Share on StumbleUpon Add to del.icio.us Share on Facebook

My birthday is coming up in just over a week and you might need to know what to get me. Or what to suggest that others get me. Or, maybe you know someone exactly like me and want to know what to get her. So many exciting possibilities. Let's begin!

1. Mama Needs A New Pair Of Jeans --->

I’ve come to realize that just a few pairs of really good jeans are all a girl needs: a pair for flats, a pair or for heels, and a skinnier pair to tuck into your boots.  So this is one area where I’ve decided to go for quality rather than quantity.  Don’t let the $180 price tag on this pair of Olivia jeans by Chip & Pepper throw you – this is a pair I’d have for years to come.

Injeanius

441 Hanover St, Boston, MA 02113

This store is a jean-lovers slice of heaven. A huge selection (over 70 styles) includes well-known brands like Rock & Republic, Citizens of Humanity and more unknown lables. The staff is knowledgeable enough to help you pick out the best pair for your figure.

2. ...And Shoes --->

Oh dear.  I can’t resist a lovely pair of shoes.  I’m the first to admit that I buy shoes foolishly and way, way too easily.

But forget all that and understand that I need, need these absolutely a-MAZ-ing ones from Chie Mihara.  Is $338 really too much to spend to watch me faint from joy?

3. A Blackberry --->

This is very difficult for me to write.  Because although I have relentlessly made fun of people who text, I have reluctantly decided to join the revolution.

Maybe it was the countless inquiries of “Did you get my text?” (No, I hate cell phones, how about just sending me an e-mail) or requests to ”Text me!” (OK, but it will take me 20 minutes to type the word “hello”) that threw me over the edge.  Or maybe it’s because when I finally touched a real! live! Blackberry, I became entranced with the tiny keyboard and cool graphics.

Regardless, folks, you’ve witnessed the beginning of an addiction right here on Guidespot.

4. A Luxurious Hair Treatment --->

I’m always looking for that miracle product that will make my hair glossy, silky, and smooth.  According to various beauty magazines, my future sister-in-law Sarah, and my friend Lisa, this is apparently it: Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment.

5. A Pretty Dress --->

Assist me in my quest to have a closet full of dresses (and three perfect pairs of jeans and one pair of crisp white cotton wide-legged trousers).

There are literally fifty dresses I could have chosen to put on my birthday list, but let’s start with this fabulous one from J.Crew.  Those little pom-poms make me crazy and the neckline is way too sweet.

6. A Great Piece Of Jewelry --->

I’m not a huge jewelry person.  I like simple pieces (both dramatic and understated) that are more classic than not, with a few quirky or trendy ones thrown in for fun.  And I’m certainly not one who likes to flaunt big, expensive jewels.

But this.  Whoooooa.  The Tine oval diamond ring by Dawes Design fits all of my above categories except the expensive part.  But I’ll take one in white gold, please, and in return I’ll be your friend forever.

7. A Really Good Quality Printer --->

When I was printing up simple inserts for our wedding invitations, I had an almost uncontrollable urge to chop our printer in half and toss it out of the window.  And now that I’m starting a business which pretty much consists of items that will be printed, it’s time to upgrade to a professional-grade printer.  After all, I would like to stay sane and productive.

My extensive research via friends and similar business owners has lead me to this Epson Stylus Pro 3800 printer which is excellent for cardstock and heavier-weight paper, while printing in glorious colors and quality.
