My official un-official guide to the food, entertainment and lifestyle of Wilton Manors, Florida - the "Island City".

If you take a close look at a map, you'll see that Wilton Manors is totally surrounded by water and totally surrounded by Fort Lauderdale. So it's an island in more ways than one!

Eating and Drinking

Tropics

2000 Wilton Dr, Wilton Manors, FL 33305

Part restaurant, part piano bar, and a total scene for the silver haired set. The super-sized 2 for 1 drinks during happy hour draw a following, or is it the show tunes and the sing along crowd?

One Tea Lounge

2037 Wilton Dr, Wilton Manors, FL 33305

The perfect place for a pot of tea and light asian food. Select from a wide variety of teas contained in large glass cannisters, relax to the soothing music, order a rice plate or noodle bowl. Yum.

Georgie's Alibi

2266 Wilton Dr, Wilton Manors, FL 33305

Located in the heart of Wilton Manors. Lively over-sized neighborhood bar, that also serves food. The casual fare is best eaten outside under the canopy and fans for that tropical Florida feel.

Simply Delish

2287 Wilton Dr, Wilton Manors, FL 33305

Like eating at grandmother’s after church. Get ready to be called honey, dumpling, sweety, pumpkin and peanut by the wait staff. Very comforting, and the food is tasty too.

Galanga Thai Kitchen & Sushi Bar

2389 Wilton Dr, Wilton Manors, FL 33305

Waiters dressed in black bustle about the close packed tables filled by people sporting designer hair, fashion forward clothing and matching attitude. A definite big city feel for a small town.

Rosie's Bar & Grill

Old Florida Seafood House

1414 Ne 26th St, Wilton Manors, FL 33305

One of the only places in town you can order fried okra as a side to your fish platter, clam chowder or stone crabs. A place you might have eaten at as a ten year old on a Florida family vacation.

Stork's Bakery & Coffee House

The original coffeehouse in Wilton Manors. Fresh baked goodies, including Storkberry pie, sandwiches and scones. For special occassions, order a Barbie cake, a real Barbie doll with a hoop skirt cake!

Flea Markets

Held the second Saturday of the month from November through April at Hagen Park (Wilton Drive). Everything from trash to treasure, and that’s just the people. The junk can be pretty good too.

There’s also a Flea Market held the fist Saturday of the month (November through April) at the GLCC Center at 1717 North Andrews Avenue in Fort Lauderdale. It gets second billing here since it lies outside of Wilton Manors, but just as fun.

Beaches

While Wilton Manors doesn’t have a beach of its own, there are two beaches worth mentioning.

  • Sebastian Beach (Ft Lauderdale) : The beach in Fort Lauderdale “where the boys are”. Head east to the beach, south of Sunrise Boulevard and north of Las Olas Boulevard where Sebastian Street meets North Atlantic Boulevard. A lethal combination of sun, sand, skin and testosterone.
  • Haulover Park (North Miami) : A bit of a drive but under an hour away, located on Collins Avenue in North Miami, just south of Sunny Isles Boulevard. Park at the Haulover Park’s northernmost parking lot on the west side of Collins Avenue and take the tunnel to the beach. Clothing is optional, so don’t spend a lot of time worying about what bathing suit to wear!

Thrift Stores

OK admit it, you might not be the target audience but that doesn’t stop you from rummaging through other people’s stuff for sale on the cheap. Fortunately, Wilton Manors has several great thrift stores for you thrifty shoppers, with proceeds going to a worthy cause.
