Hail to the Peeps (Easter Candy Time)

Share on StumbleUpon Add to del.icio.us Share on Facebook

Here’s some interesting stats from the National Retail Federation: Consumers will spend $14.4 billion on Easter clothes, meals, flowers, decorations and, of course, Peeps. Those celebrating Easter will spend an average of $135.03. Of that amount, $18.12 will be spent on sweets. Blushing Whale is not a fan of Peeps. But that’s okay, he easily can spend $18.12 because there’s just so much candy to choose from. So what will you be munching on this Easter Sunday?

Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs

Once, a co-worker got several boxes of these
from his mom so he brought them to work. Bad idea. Whale ate them as if they
were potato chips. Mmmm, they’re so addictive!

Chocolate Bunnies

Whale loves the ones made by Hershey’s the best. But when
it comes to eating the bunny, Whale’s stumped on what to bite first: the ear,
tail, nose or the feet? Anyone?

Marshmallow Chocolate Eggs in a Carton

Whale was talking to his friend Laura and she
said she can’t wait to get a carton of these. Like Whale, Laura also likes sweets. Unlike Whale, she loves candy corn. You know how liver tastes
really gross? Candy corn is the liver of sweets.

M&Ms Easter Eggs

Anything made by M&Ms is yummy. Whale will
hunt for these eggs anytime. By now you probably know that he is addicted big time to chocolate.

Peeps Chicks, Bunnies and Eggs

Whale doesn’t like Peeps because he finds them
way too, um, sweet. Whale however likes watching videos of Peeps Jousting in
the microwave. Whale has easily lost more than $50,000 betting on Peeps.

Cadbury Crème Eggs

Whale’s busy eating so he’ll use Wikipedia’s description of this treat:
The egg has a thick milk chocolate “shell”, with a white and
yellow fondant filling designed to resemble the yolk and albumen of an egg.

Jelly Beans

Jelly Beans became associated with Easter in the U.S. during the 1930s.

Lindt Chocolate Carrots

The Swiss don’t mess around when it comes to chocolate. Lindt
is one of their best. Whale was in Geneva last year and sampling their chocolates was one of the highlights.

Writing about all of these treats gave me a weird feeling that I just ate them all. Anyway, Happy Easter Sunday! Don’t forget to brush and floss :)
