this link might be a good addition to your guide. It allows anyone to input a zip code, or street intersection to find the lowest price. It seems to be a AAA sponsored site.
Love what you’ve done with the guide! It is definitely where people’s heads are at right now.
The Saudis have agreed to increase production by 1/2 million barrels of oil per day. They must be feeling generous. That should lower prices by what, maybe a few dollars per barrel? We waltzed right into this with our eyes open. By Bush’s own admission, we are addicted to oil, we’ve hit peak oil production, and the planet is straining under the pressure of trying to absorb all the extra CO2.
drive yukons and pink volleyball cars. spray lawns with dried up water and chemical. stretch faces at face doctor. stuff faces at burger place. hire this president. spend no time on computer bride site. americans very ashamed. look at selves. make ukrain ashamed for you.

Also, don’t forget that the Soviet Union encouraged the growth of independent economic growth for OPEC, as stated in General Sejna’s 1982 book “We Will Bury You” (p. 106). This increased independence paved the way for increased gas and oil prices.
I’m not suggesting anyone punish the oil companies. But I am suggesting that they get treatment like every other corporation in the US. Why should they be getting billions from you and I in the form of tax breaks when they are making record profits?
The cost of crude oil is what is making the price go up. Punishing the oil companies will not fix the problem. In fact, it will cause additional problems, as ensued in the 1970’s when the government set price controls on gas, resulting in long lines and shortages. When you hear politicians criticizing gas oil companies, remember it’s an election year.
You’re absolutely right, Niko. Both of those ideas should take hold as the prices continue up into the stratosphere. The reason I like the idea of plug-in hybrids is that now the energy source is the power grid. If we can get to the point where most of our power is from clean, renewable sources such as wind, solar, tidal, and hydro-electric, then we can really start to impact CO2 emissions.
Wow!...I’m getting 48.8 mpg right now. I have a Prius…but I still forward to the day I can plug it in to get that number higher. Diesel is so 20th century! ;)
With world population approaching 7 billion and the developing world barreling (pun intended) towards car ownership, we are f*ed if we continue to rely on one-person-one-car. The only long term solution is public transport and/or eliminate the need to work 30 miles from where you live.
hmmm, I can think of some software companies with higher profit margins than that. Is petrol supposed to be some sort of god given right? Anyway, I agree with Nina – imagine how much you’d have to pay if environmental impact and the cost of war was tacked on.
With Costco you do have to be a member to get those prices. But at this rate it’s well worth it! I just filled up last night from the Costco in Westminster, CO at roughly 92nd and Sheridan and only had to pay $3.68/gal. Yes, Costco rocks.
I wish I could afford a hybrid car on my wages. I can’t even afford a used one. Good thing I already have my “nice” 96 Nissan Sentra. I was shocked that it costs me over 40 dollars to fill up now though. I think it irrelevant that Europeans pay more at the pump. We live in the Western United States in much more rural and open communities. We have far less opportunities for public transportation.
I am so thankful that you and Mr. Black bullied me into buying a Prius. YEA. Did you see where the CEO of Exxon stated that their profits were fair. ARGH.
What are you people driving? 30 and 40 bucks to fill up? Come on…maybe the Prius… My car is over 60 and my truck 85. I agree with Nina…at least we are not at $10 a gallon.
Your car looks nice! :) The gas prices suck. Every fill up costs me over $40 and I don’t drive an SUV! Oh well, we don’t HAVE to have the luxuries, like food and shelter, as long as we’ve got WHEELS!
Oh No, here he goes!!!! Sweet Guide you got here Powers!

Good to know we are all subsidizing the oil companies with tax breaks to the tune of $18 billion/year. Wouldn’t want to make them have to re-invest a portion of their profits back into the business to compete like every other American corporation.

It’s not historically high when it’s measured in gold .
Are we driving towards disaster?

ok, I guess that would be two solutions
With world population approaching 7 billion and the developing world barreling (pun intended) towards car ownership, we are f*ed if we continue to rely on one-person-one-car. The only long term solution is public transport and/or eliminate the need to work 30 miles from where you live.

I just filled up at the Costco in Aurora off Havana and it was $3.65 a gallon. I love Costco!
You’re absolutely right, sdalton. The oil companies made $36 billion (not net, in PROFIT!) in 3 months. That seems pretty fair. $(*Y$#@
That’s right, folks, the price of gas has beaten all-time gas price records for 16 straight days!
I blame Bob Muntz for these high gas prices. He stopped negotiating with the oil cartel a few weeks ago and now all hell has broken loose.
I wish I could afford a hybrid car on my wages. I can’t even afford a used one. Good thing I already have my “nice” 96 Nissan Sentra. Okay, Nina, I washed my car. ;-)

Wow, your car is dirty. BTW, England is paying close to $10 a gallon for gas so no whining.
That’s a good topic, Mr. asdfasdf133. I will check into that…
Hi Powers – can you comment on how the price of biofuel is making food sources more expensive?
you need to put a pic of a hybrid in your guide!
Nice pic of you standing against the wall at work!
It’s small, but its a start!
Good work, Powers. Can you get map of Denver with a cron job that updates daily?
