P2 Revisited: The Most Horrifying Parking Structures in Los Angeles
Updated 03/19/2009

This parking structure isn’t so bad, in theory. As a matter of fact if you’re just going to park to go to the gym or grab a bite at the expensive sushi restaurant that has been Coming Soon for the past 3 years, it’s probably A-OK. The problem is that most people are coming here to go to the movies. The problem with the movies is that they start and end at very similar times. And when everyone is trying to leave a parking structure at EXACTLY THE SAME TIME, it gets a little out of control. Like, wait to get out of your parking spot for 20 minutes out of control. Like, get charged extra because it takes you so long to get from where you prepay to exit to where your car actually exists out of control. Yeah.

Papercuts and Pickup Lines: A Guide to Los Angeles Bookstores

The lobby of the Arclight often plays host to costumes and props from the movies that are playing in their luxury theatres along with a swank bar & restaurant. But it also has a little gift shop with a truly amusing collection of coffee table books with subject ranging from Marilyn Monroe to a photobook of the word “Fuck” pasted onto various public signs, cleverly entitled “Fuck This Book.” I don’t know who actually buys these things, but it’s very fun to browse here: both for books, and cinephile boys.

By far one of the fanciest movie theatres around, the Arclight and its many amenities are sure to impress your date, cinephile or not. The cushy seats are all reserved, the digital projection is always impeccable, they don’t show commercials before the feature and you almost guaranteed to see a celebrity.

If you’re feeling adventurous, be sure to try one of the 21+ screenings. You can buy a drink from the Arclight bar and take it right into the theatre! Romantic? The plastic cups maybe aren’t the most romantic, but it’s fun nonetheless and you might forget how much you just paid to see Paris Hilton in The Mother Theresa Story: Back in the Habit .

If you’re still waiting for your custom Bose speakers to arrive for your home theater, then head to the Arclight to get your movie fix. If it’s good enough for Justin Timberlake, it’s good enough for you.

See a bad movie in the fancy, high tech, awesome cinerama dome on Sunset Blvd. and proceed to feel bad about how you just spent almost $20 to see Rush Hour 4: Whitey’s Revenge.
