Well, you can at Silverlake’s Red Lion Tavern. Their beer garden is enclosed in vines and decorated with wacky German characters and nice touches like a fountain. It’s popular every night of the year in temperate Los Angeles, but just in case it’s chilly, they do have some of those handy outdoor heaters.

The beer garden at the Red Lion is a good place to start making new friends to help you carry stuff. I recommend zeroing in on the tallest and strongest looking (bonus if you saw him pull up in a truck) and working your way down to the less athletic looking guys (or gals).
A German beer on a patio served by a pretty indie rock beer wench (is that offensive?) and a sausage platter. Heavenly.
