The 188-acre Woodland Park Zoo features 1,145 different animals that include 290 different species from all over the world, including elephants, giraffes, rainforest animals, and the increasingly rare Jaguar. The zoo takes up approximately one half of Woodland Park in the Fremont area, just north of Green Lake. One of the zoo's more popular exhibits is the recently constructed primate exhibit that takes visitors along a meandering pathway that leads them through the habitats of gorillas, chimps, and orangutans.

Ok, I’ll have to admit that we ran out of time and didn’t make it to the zoo; it was on the list but we were on kid time (you know need to stop every 5 minutes for a snack or a bathroom). This heavily wooded zoo showcases animals as well as many native plants and shrubs. They even offer a “rainy day tour”.
