Running through the history of the planet, starting with the Paleozoic Age billions of years ago and continuing through the present, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science explores the plant and animal species that have evolved, lived and gone extinct over time. Model skeletons of dinosaurs in recreated habitats fill many of the exhibit halls, while other areas focus on scientific fields like the exploration of Mars and weather phenomena. Also affiliated with the museum are the DynaTheater and a planetarium, both showing programs with a fun and educational slant. The museum is next to Tiquex Park, near the Albuquerque Little Theatre and close to downtown.
