The American Museum of Natural History was first established in 1869 by naturalist Dr. Albert S. Bickmore, and today is one of the most prestigious museums of its kind in the world. Inside the museum visitors can peer upon the world famous full-size model of the blue whale, peek at the world's largest sapphire, learn the anthropological histories of many of the world's great cultures, and much more. The museum is located on the Upper West Side, just beside Central Park.
