Despite their popularity, snakes remain one of the most misunderstood creatures throughout history.

Snakes hold a significant place in art, mythology, and human imagination across civilizations. They’ve woven their way into myths and folklore, carrying both positive and negative symbolism.

Snakes are often linked to oracles and seers in various cultures’ myths and folklore. Wadjet, an ancient Egyptian goddess, was depicted as a cobra, a two-headed snake, or a woman with a snake’s head. Legends say she nursed the infant Horus and protected Ra. Greek mythology also features snakes in the story of Teiresias. The Ouroboros, a Greek symbol of a snake eating its tail, appears in Egyptian myths and Greek mystery cults. The ‘Book of Numbers’ tells of Moses creating a bronze serpent statue to protect Israelites from God’s wrath. Hindu mythology includes snakes, notably the image of Krishna dancing on a venomous serpent. The most famous snake depiction is in Genesis, where it’s the most subtle creature, capable of speech and logical thought. In Roman mythology, Glycon was a Greek snake god with a 2nd-century cult. Native American tribes like Hopi and Chippewa also had snake clans.

If you’re seeking a tattoo that embodies an ancient symbol, this curated list of snake tattoos is perfect.

You know you're going to give your kid a complex if you call them "The Mean Bean" instead of; sweetiepie, sugar face, bear, etc. My nickname stuck- even when I got nicer. AND my affinity for all things BEAN happens to be tremendous; Coffee beans (my coffee feign), Cocoa beans, Vanilla beans, chickpeas (yes, it's a bean), black beans....and so on. As for the "mean" part, depends on which ex-boyfriend you ask. I think I'm super sugary. And no, I will not be writing any guides about beans. Unless I get a special request.
