Farragut is a town in Knox County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 17,720 at the 2000 census. Farragut is a suburb of nearby Knoxville and is named in honor of American Civil War Admiral David Farragut, who was born nearby in Old Concord (see below) in 1801. Farragut High School, which serves the local area, is known nation wide for excellence in both athletics and academics.
