Rock Hill is the largest city in York County, South Carolina and a satellite city of Charlotte, North Carolina. The population was 49,765 at the 2000 census. According to 2004 estimates, the city has a population of 57,902, making it the fifth largest city in South Carolina. The city is included in the Charlotte-Gastonia-Concord metropolitan statistical area, which has a population of 1,474,734 according to the 2004 estimate by the U.S. Census Bureau.
