Tualatin (IPA: tu ɔ lə tn̩) is a city in Washington County, Oregon, United States. It is named for the Tualatin River, which flows along most of its northern boundary. A post office with the spelling Tualitin was established November 5, 1869. In the 1880s, the settlement was sometimes called Bridgeport because of the nearby bridge, the first built over the Tualatin river. The population was 22,791 at the 2000 census. A post office with the spelling Tualitin was established November 5, 1869. In the 1880s, the settlement was sometimes called Bridgeport because of the nearby bridge, the first built over the Tualatin river. The population was 22,791 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Portland metropolitan area and is south of Tigard.
