Post Falls is a city in Kootenai County, Idaho, United States near the Idaho state line between Spokane, Washington, and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The population was 17,247 at the 2000 census.
Post Falls is named for Frederick Post, who located there in 1871 to construct a sawmill along the Spokane River. The park bordering the Spokane River is called Q'emlin'Park - meaning "throat of the river". The name was given by local historian, Kim Brown.
