The high rates of gas prices can be surprising. Do not abandon hope! This guide will provide you with easy methods to find cheap gas, if you are forced to keep using gas, and will also provide you with alternative transportation suggestions.

Often it is cheaper to buy more expensive gas closer to home.
Lots of people will drive a long way out of the way to buy gas that is one cent cheaper. Per one cent cheaper gas, and for a 10 gallon tank, this will save you 10 cents, and for a 20 gallon tank, this will save you 20 cents. Driving one mile costs you 27 cents at 15m/g, 20 cents at 20m/g, 16 cents at 25m/g, 13 cents at 30m/g, and 10 cents at 40m/g. In many cases, this means you will waste more gas trying to get the cheap gas than you will save on the fill up.
There are hundreds of gas saving suggestions out there.
One that struck my fancy is about gas wasted idling your car. Most sources say that you waste from .5 gallons to 1 gallon of gas per hour idling your engine. And that you use about the same amount of gas idling your engine for 10 to 30 seconds as you use to restart your car. Just don’t turn your car off while in traffic.
