Your Favorite Bostonians

Boston is the birthplace of some of the greatest, most talented people to grace the Earth. I mean, how can you not be accomplished when you're surrounded by so much history and so many universities? All these awesome people make me proud to be a Bostonian (Hi, we gave birth to the New Kids on the Block. 'Nuff said). Who is your favorite known (or maybe soon-to-be-discovered) Bostonian? Is there a spot in Boston you can go to visit them, their home, work-place, etc? It's OK if you don't put me on the list just yet. I will be there someday. Mark my words.

Jay Leno

I have to give major props to Jay Leno because, not only did he grow up in my hometown and attend my high school (a few years before me!), he also attended college where I attended graduate school- Emerson College.

I love when he mentions Andover on his show and it makes me feel like I’m sort of following in his footsteps and someday may be as famous as he is. Come on, it could happen!

Aerosmith

How can’t Aerosmith make the list of favorite Bostonians? These guys freaking rock (literally) and their songs such as Janie’s Got a Gun, Crazy, and I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing are known worldwide!

Sam Adams

He’s one of the founding fathers, how could I not include him? Oh, and he’s an amazingly fantastic brewer as well. And to this day, Sam Adams is one of my favorite beers ever. Old Sam helped protest the Stamp Act of 1765 and played a part in the Boston Tea Party in 1773.

He also played a part in adopting the Declaration of Independence and helped write the Massachusetts Constitution.

And the beer. Don’t forget the beer. Oh Sam, we love you!

Jonathan Richman

Shown above in his most famous moment as the guy who sang the musical interludes (and was shot to death at the end) in “There’s Something About Mary.” Richman was the leader of The Modern Lovers, one of the most influential bands ever. The guy is truly one of the greats.

All this Boston talk is making me homesick.

Boston
I love cupcakes, the color pink, writing, technology, blogging, trying to learn Japanese, and walking from one end of Boston to the other. I make it my goal to try one new thing in Boston every week, but sometimes I find things I love so much, I just can't tear myself away from them. Boston...
