Work It: Your Favorite Way to Burn Calories

-608477438

Working out can be pretty boring. I don't know about you, but I think going on the treadmill is just about as exciting as watching grass grow. That being said, there are plenty of fun ways to get your heart rate up without resorting to the dreaded Stairmaster to nowhere. So when the time comes to burn off that leftover Halloween candy, what will you do? Trampoline? Sign up for boot camp? Get frisky? (sex burns about 4 calories a minute!)

Trapeze

A while back I wrote an article about alternative forms of exercise, and I took a circus arts class, where I learned how to do trapeze. And let me tell you, it was so much fun! It didn’t feel like exercise at all, but it was totally challenging. And I was super sore the next day, which made feel like I had done some serious muscle toning.

Biking

I know biking sounds pretty boring, but I’ve totally gotten back into it lately. Nothing beats biking down the bike path at the beach on a sunny day— even if there are Rollerbladers everywhere.

Yoga Booty Ballet

They have a YBB studio in LA, but there are also at home workout DVDs you can buy. There isn’t too much yoga or ballet in this class, but it’s super fun. One of my teachers calls it an “organized dance party,” which it totally is. And don’t worry if you’re a bad dancer (I sort have two left feet), this workout is all about having fun.
