The Wild Things Are Everywhere
A product of the 60's, Maurice Sendak's Where The Wild Things Are has been inspiring us to all seek out our inner wild child. Who knew that this simple story (only ten sentences) would be turned into an animated short, opera, claymation, and now an elaborate film. So in anticipation of this live-action movie, let's take a look at how we wildly express our love for WTWTA...
“The night Max wore his wolf suit and made mischief of one kind…"
It takes just a few words and some very magical illustrations to send you down the wild memory lane….
Curl up on the couch for a second and let the narrator read to you and take you back to childhood nights.
Well Hello, Max!
Who knew that a little boy in a wolf costume would inspire us all to dream and imagine?
Everyone Wants To Be Like Max!
Just think of it as a way to step into the story. P.S. I really need to know where this is located….help!
He doesn’t realize how cool he is yet. Check out the jealous stares from the kids on the left.
Normally I’m not a fan of adults in costumes, but this is just spectacular. We should all make a pact to dress up like Max for Halloween this year. Time to find a wolf suit!
Murals Bring Out Their Wild Side
How can you resist a spontaneous “wild rompus” when you feel like you’ve stepped into the story? Hooray for this fabulous work of wall art!
The Ultimate Ornament
Sure, green and red ornaments are festive, but I’d love a monster tree. Imagine if their yellow eyes lit up the entire tree.
Collect Your Own Monsters
There’s nothing wrong with playing with dolls past the age of 10 (just make sure your blinds are closed and that your date is gone). Learn how it feels to be like Max and rule the monsters!
WEAR the wild things are on your t-shirt
I think it’s time to wear your love for Max and the monsters. (Give your ironic t-shirts a rest. We get it, you think you’re funny)
Yes, The people at Pixar are very talented, but I give lots of props to the claymation creators who mold stories to life. Amazing!
Where The Wild Things Are? On You Arm.
Wow, check out the serious tat love for WTWTA . Now he’ll never have to carry the book with him. He can just narrate his arm. I wonder if when he flexes it looks like a wild rompus?
This gives a whole new meaning to wearing your (Where The Wild Things Are loving) heart on your sleeve.
Wild Ride
But if you’re not ready to take it to a body art level, you can always paint your van. This takes “wild ride” to a whole new level.
Words can’t express how excited I am to see this live-action movie (although I guess my guide just showed my serious love). I can’t wait to see how Spike Jonze turned ten sentences into a feature film. Have you clicked on the clip yet? No, OK stop reading and just watch the trailer.
Make a Max hat
Even if you are an adult, you should probably have a Max hat to bounce around your house in and play pretend.
Papier-mache+fabric=awesome!
