If you're looking for more than just tutus and fairy wings, skip Haight Street this year and try thrifty stores over the traditional pop-up costume shops.
Out of the Closet is a funny place, and not just this one, but all three of their SF locations. Much of the year, they focus on basics and graphic tees, but around Halloween they begin to get it strange household items, interesting fashions, and plenty of random what-do-you-do-with-these. Prices can be bargain-basement cheap, so grab a bunch of whatcha-ma-call-its and construct something creative.
