Where to buy that Stogie in Arizona
Just ask any avid cigar smoker and they will indeed inform you that the entire experience is a process in and of itself. This involves finding the right cigar shop. Selecting the right cigar, and or acquiring a taste or learning about different brands, cuts and flavors. Finally, it also boils down to how you care for the cigar, how you cut the ends and ultimately how you light and smoke that stogie. As for myself, I love cigars, although the chance rarely presents itself to me these days to actually sit down and enjoy one. I used to have a cigar club with several friends and we would happily scout all the local shops, learn about the brands and then buy several and smoke them on the patio on Sunday evenings. With this experience I was able to learn where the best cigar shops in Arizona were. So without further ado—here they are—smoke on my stogie loving friends, smoke on!
This is my favorite cigar shop in the valley and with its five awesome locations, it happens to be the largest and the best-known and for many good reasons. Where to start? This place has been around for the better part of thirty years and they have the nicest humidor in the state, adorned with box after box of the sweet-smelling tobacco stogie goodness. And yes, they have even the rarest and most expensive of brands, although they do keep these fine stogies under lock-and-key for safekeeping.
When at Churchill’s you will notice several things. The customer service is amazing. The selection is some of the best, and they have a legal cigar smoking bar at every single location. Which is impressive considering that Arizona has a smoking ban in place currently that makes hosting a cigar bar inside of a business nearly impossible. That aside, the best part of about this place is their selection and the prices.
If you don’t know what you want to smoke that day simply tell an employee what you have in mind. They will take you on walk-through of the humidor and suggest different brands and sizes, and tell you why they think that you will like that cigar over another. Finally, any accessories that you could ever think of, they have and for great deals. The next time you find yourself in Phoenix for a wedding or other special occasion, stop in at Churchill’s to get the cigars you need and smoke in style that night!
The Smoking Room at Churchill’s
While this chair only lightly depicts how comfortable and English the smoking room is at Churchill’s, one can get a really good idea of how easy it would be to kick back and light up a stogie while watching that game after work here.
Good Fellas Cigar Lounge
800 E Camelback Rd Phoenix, AZ 85260
A great little cigar shop in Phoenix that has ample selection and some fair pricing. They have the favorite brands, shapes and cuts, but at prices that you may not expect. If you are looking for rare and aged cigars, this place may not be the spot for you. However if what you seek is a decent selection and most notably, great prices and service, Camacho will suit you just fine. That is if you do not mind their central Phoenix location or the fact that they have limited selection of some of the finer brands—which all cost a ton more.
Bob's Smokes & Cigars
12228 N Cave Creek Rd Phoenix, AZ 85022
This cool, yet very small, cigar shop has much to offer the consumer. Ample selection that spans both the high-end and aged premium brands and plenty of other brands for the rest of us who can not afford to shell out $100 for one cigar smoking session. Their service is simply excellent. The owner, Bob, is normally on-hand and he is more than friendly and willing to help you find the perfect stogie to smoke for evening—even if that means you are only tendering about $10. If great service, great prices and good selection are what you seek, Bob has got your rolled up smoking urges totally covered.
Robustos Fine Cigars & Tobacco
4611 E Chandler Blvd Phoenix, AZ 85048
This place is not the best-known cigar shop in the greater Phoenix area and the service pales in comparison to other places. I went in there normally dressed and had trouble even getting somebody to talk to me, much less answer my questions. Apparently the mood of conduct here dictates that if you do not pull up in a $100k ride, you are not rich enough to shop here. While this is a shame, it does not take away from the fact that they have great selection, a huge humidor and decent prices. It does however cause gents like me to go elsewhere. But if service is of no mind or you drive a Benz, then no worries.
Where to Buy Cigars Online:
This site offers some of the best selection of cigars to be found on the internet. They are constantly hosting specials and have plenty of deals. If you want cigars drop-shipped to your doorstep check out this awesome site.
This awesome website offers the best selection and prices on the net to be found anywhere. While they lack some of the highest end brands, their prices are sure to make all stogie lovers very happy.
This place is one of the best tobacco shops and cigar vendors in the state and I will happily tell you why my friends. For one, Ford and Haig has been in the valley for longer than any other tobacco store or cigar store—forty years and counting all in the same Old Town Scottsdale location.
They also happen to have one of the nicest damn humidors that you have ever laid your eyes upon, and yes it is a walk-in but make sure that you have permission before setting foot inside this wood-grained wonder.
They sell just about any worthwhile cigar that is known to man, and yes they have Dominican imported and repackaged Cubans for all of you cigar nuts out there. They also sell whole leaf tobacco and shredded tobacco for the pipe smokers.
Their prices are astoundingly low and their service is bar-none. Both of the owners are certified tobacconists which mean they know a hell of lot more about it than you or I. Another thing to note is that they sell their own hand-rolled cigars for a pretty penny. But you will daft and hard-pressed to find another better tasting or smoking local stogie elsewhere.
Although I have never personally been inside this massive cigar warehouse I have been told some really great things from many different people. All leading me up to the conclusion that this place is indeed worth mentioning and therefore makes my notable list of great cigar spots in Phoenix.
They supposedly have the largest humidor in the entire state and apparently it takes up quite a big deal of space inside. Aside from that they stock 1000’s of brand names and you can even get your hands on Cubans—imported from the Dominican Republic of course.
They have their own free-standing building which allows for two things. One it allows people to actually smoke inside, as the Phoenix smoking ban laws dictate that tobacco businesses must have their own free-standing and self-ventilated building to allow smoking inside. And two, they have a very large amount of interior square footage.
Unlike many other cigar shops where everything is cluttered together into an unrecognizable mish mash—this place has a spot for everything. A walk-in humidor is also nice and they must have over $200k worth of tobacco products in stock. They also sell tobacco pipes and import cigarettes which are hard to find anywhere else; you can also buy full grain tobacco here as well as leaf.
Don's Fine Cigars
20 E Camelback Rd Phoenix, AZ 85012
Welcome to Don’s cigars, “How can we help you,” is the most common expression you will hear when entering this small and subtle, yet very nice cigar shop located in central Phoenix.
Hailing as one of the oldest cigar shops in the valley, Don’s has been selling his fine rolled tobacco for years and years. While the location is small and you can not smoke inside, what you can do is find all the finest cigars you ever wanted to wrap your lips around and puff away on. As well as any necessary accessories such as humidors, travel cases, cutters and much more.
They have a smaller, yet very effective cigar humidor that is well stocked with all of the most popular brands as well as some that you may have never even heard of before. If you have any questions, just ask the Don, and he will direct you to the cigar that you are looking for. Fresh stogies, great prices, amazing service and a good location are all testaments as to why this little shop has been in the valley for so long, and aims to be here even longer.
