A Guide On How To Decide What To Eat
OK, I know this may seem like an easy topic. However, IT'S NOT! Trying to decide what to eat can be the most difficult decision of the day! Do I want sweet, savory, healthy, fried, Mexican or Asian? I think I have a way to narrow it down by meal. These questions to ask yourself, can be referred to ANYTIME you have trouble deciding what to eat.
Breakfast Foods
Breakfast is the easiest meal of the day. Yet, sometimes we have trouble deciding.
Ask yourself some questions:
- Narrow it down: Sweet or Savory?
- Healthy or Unhealthy today? You know there are unhealthy choice days. Come on, we can’t be healthy EVERYDAY!
- Large or small meal. Size matters. Especially if you are going to eat lunch soon. In that case, just eat some fruit.
2. Healthy or Unhealthy?
Um, today I’ll be healthy. A bowl of cereal is always a smart choice, with some soy milk (if you’re into that sort of thing.)
Cereal with fiber will keep you satisfied for a long while before lunch.
Plus, you won’t have any problems clearing your lunch out later, if ya know what I mean.
Lunch Foods
Lunch is the 2nd most difficult food to decide on. I think this is because there are so many options!
Again, ask some questions:
- Bringing your lunch or buying out?
- Light, healthy lunch, or a large meal to tie me over until deciding on what’s for dinner.
- Snacky foods: If you ate the fruit cup, you should be eating a meal by now. If you had a large breakfast, I give you permission to eat the snacky foods.
2. Light or Heavy?
Sometimes a salad is the best remedy for a nice light lunch. Yet, for those who eat meat, a burger can satisfy all hunger needs.
Go ahead and indulge. It’s lunch time!

Dinner Foods
This is BY FAR the most difficult meal to decide on. Yet is the most important. Some say breakfast is the most crucial. Nope, dinner allows you to come home and look forward to something… YAY FOOD!
My boyfriend and I spend hours trying to decide what to eat for dinner. It should NEVER take that long to decide.
Just ask some more questions:
- What ethnicity are you feeling? Chinese, Mexican, Thai, Indian, American, English, Dutch, etc…
- Large or small meals?
- Staying in or going out?

2. Large or Small Meals?
Just remember that if you choose to eat a large meal, there may be consequences. Small dinner meals might be the best route.

3. Size Matters
You may just want to keep it simple in the morning and throw some fruit into your belly. Great! Just be prepared to eat lunch.
1. Bring Your Lunch
Bringing your lunch with you to work is a great option. You save money and can pack whatever your heart desires! Well, whatever is in your pantry basically.
3. Snacky foods
Nuts, seeds, and dry fruit are a great option if you’ve had a nice breakfast. Sometimes there isn’t much time during the day to eat a full meal. Nuts can tie you over until dinner.
Just remember, if you didn’t have a filling breakfast, nuts and fruit just won’t work. Sorry, gotta eat something else!
DON'T GO THERE!
I NEVER recommend fast food. That stuff just makes ya fat! Don’t do it. If you feel yourself wanting it, just stay in!
1. What Ethnicity Ya Feelin'?
Sometimes my boyfriend and I feel a little bit Mexican. Other nights we might feel Indian. It just depends on the day I guess.
Decide what your stomach wants you to be for the evening and embrace that choice and EAT IT!
3. Staying In or Going Out?
It can be cheaper and a bit more healthy to stay home sometimes. I often want to lay low and make a favorite dish, grab a bottle of wine, and watch stand up comedy at home.
