What is your favorite comfort food?
.jpg)
Everyone has their time. Have a long, hard day at work/school? Worn out after being stuck in traffic? Unexpected bill in the mail?, car breakdown?, fight with your best friend? get a paper-cut? Everyone has their favorites. Be it sweet, salty, spicy, starchy, or just plain fattening and unhealthy. Forget the low-fat cottage cheese, the granola bar, the celery sticks, or a banana........ What do you crave when you need to pamper yourself, and turn that karma around?
The Dough
Chocolate chip cookie dough. Often I will start mixing without having the intentions of baking the dough. I simple freeze the dough for when its needed (i.e. when my pinky hurts.)
Green Olives + Cream Cheese = Heaven.
I don’t know when I discovered the delightful combination of green olives and cream cheese, but oh. my. goodness. – it is amazing.
I fish an olive out of the jar, scoop a little cream cheese out of the container, and pop it all in my mouth. I spent election night anxiously (and excitedly!) scarfing down this very salty treat.
Too much sodium, but oh so good!
Ice Cream
I’m a total cheese for ice cream. It’s so versatile and yummy! I always feel better after having some during a bad day.
pizza (with any kind of topping but with THIN CRUST please) always makes my belly happy during stressful times.
Skroodles!
My mom invented skroodles when my brother and I were little… she used all the lasagna ingredients and baked them with rotini noodles so we’d have little bite-size pieces. Okay, maybe she wasn’t the first person to ever do that. But Mom’s skroodles are the best thing when I’m feeling blue. She brings them over whenever she knows I’m having a bad time :o)
Chicken Fingers
The chicken fingers pictured here are part of the semi-disgusting but amazing Triple Play at Ruby Tuesday’s, consisting of ribs, chicken fingers and shrimp. I definitely ate this right before driving 7 hours from Virginia to New York and I don’t think I had to snack in the car at all.
Greesy, Grade D Beef Fast Food
And I don’t even feel bad about it.
Egg McMuffin
Just like Travis from Clueless, I too would like to thank those who take the time to make the perfect egg mcmuffin in the morning. While completely bad for my cholesterol, it is necessary for my good mood.
Kraft Dinner: A Canadian Classic
It’s macaroni and cheese – yes. But it’s so much more. It’s a cultural icon. It’s nothing but carbs. It’s small box of boil it and mix it goodness for the soul.
Yes. I consider each box to be a single serving despite the fact that one can easily feed two or three.
Nachos
I am a complete emotional eater, and if I’ve had a bad day I always turn to nachos. Sometimes I go with just basic chips and cheese, but others I go all out like in the picture you see above. I always feel a little guilty afterwards, but they’re so delicious that it’s worth it.
Eggs Over Easy on Toast!
I have a love for eggs that needs to be tended to at least once a week. Eggs over easy slopped on anything starchy is pure magic. But the real kicker for me is simply over two pieces of toast. My mom made it for me when I was sick as a kid = comfort food. Crack pepper, mush up yolks, Taz that shit!
HOT - SALTY - BUTTERY
Even if I’m not having a bad day – it’s always a good time for popcorn.
