Are the blue and red and shaded maps of the U.S. permanently imprinted on your mind on account of the upcoming election? Rather than think about politics anymore, I began to contemplate all the weird tourist "attractions" all over the country. I am a sucker for these. I would spend any amount of money to see the biggest rubber band ball, a mustard museum, a giant lumberjack on the side of the road. Welcome to my world! What weird places have YOU visited? ("Weird" is up to interpretation).

The Oldest Pulpit in the Country

I once made a friend drive to Delaware with me to see this here pulpit. Why? Because it’s the oldest one in the country and wouldn’t it be grand to say that “I’ve seen the oldest pulpit in the country”? I thought so. Wilmington, Delaware didn’t really have much going for it otherwise. The “waterfront”? It was a murky stream.

The Big Duck of Long Island

The Beaver in Western Mass.

Stumbling upon this specimen was pure luck. En route to some quaint town or other in the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts, all of a sudden we saw a giant beaver! Us Smithies took our picture with it. :)

My parents went in “Lucy” that giant elephant in NJ in the default photo. I think the phone conversation we had when they told me they went inside an elephant was probably the funniest phone convo ever. So weird!!
