Jersey City is a city in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. As of the United States 2000 Census, the city population was 240,055, making it New Jersey's second-largest city, trailing Newark. It is the county seat of Hudson CountyGR6.
Jersey City lies on the west bank of the Hudson River across from New York City, and is part of the New York metropolitan area. The second largest city in the state and a commercial and industrial center surpassed only by Newark, it is a port of entry and a manufacturing center. With 11 miles (17.7 km) of waterfront and significant rail connections, Jersey City is an important transportation terminus and distribution center. It has railroad shops, oil refineries, warehouses, and plants that manufacture a diverse assortment of products, such as chemicals, petroleum and electrical goods, textiles, and cosmetics. Jersey City has benefited from its position across the Hudson River from the island of Manhattan, and many of its companies are extensions of businesses headquartered there. Recent developments have included increased housing and shopping areas; other parts of the city, however, remain run-down after years of commercial inactivity.
Jersey City is one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse cities in the country, with an almost equal mix of non-Hispanic whites, non-Hispanic blacks, Asians, and Latinos. Of all cities in the United States, it has one of the largest Arab and Muslim populations and proportions, one of the largest Asian proportions, and one of the largest proportions of various Latino and Hispanic ethnicities outside the southwest. It also has higher-than-average numbers of Jews, Italians, Cubans, Filipinos, Indians, and Irish than most cities in the nation.

New York City, officially the City of New York, is the most populous city in the United States and the most densely populated major city in North America. Located in the state of New York, New York City has a population of over 8.1 million within an area of 321 square miles (approximately 830 km²).
The city is a center for international finance, fashion, entertainment, and culture, and is widely considered to be one of the world's major global cities with an extraordinary collection of museums, galleries, performance venues, media outlets, international corporations and financial markets. It is also home to the headquarters of the United Nations.
The New York metropolitan area has a population of about 18.7 million, which makes it one of the largest urban areas in the world. The city proper consists of five boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. With the exception of Staten Island, each of these boroughs is home to at least a million people and would be among the nation's largest cities if considered independently.
Popularly known as the "Big Apple" or "Gotham," the city attracts large numbers of immigrants—over a third of its population is foreign born—as well as people from all over the United States who come for its culture, energy, cosmopolitanism, and economic opportunity. The city is also distinguished for having the lowest crime rate among the 25 largest American cities.

more »Moonachie is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, in the Hackensack River Watershed. As of the United States 2000 Census, the borough population was 2,754.
The name of the borough is typically pronounced either "MOON-a-key" or "Moon-AH-key;" however, in January of 1987, then-New York City Mayor Ed Koch pronounced it "Moon-ARCH-ie" when he made his now-famous quip that the New York Giants should hold their victory parade in front of the borough's oil drums after the team had just won the Super Bowl (Koch refused to grant the Giants permission to hold a parade within the city limits because the team plays its home games in New Jersey and not in New York City or even New York State).
Moonachie was incorporated as a borough on April 10, 1910 from portions of Lodi Township. In 1917, portions of Moonachie were transferred to Teterboro.

Teterboro is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, U.S. As of the United States 2000 census, the borough population was 18, making it the smallest municipality in New Jersey by population at the time of the census, ahead of Pine Valley (population 20) and Tavistock (with 24 residents).
It is worth noting that the 2000 census failed to count any of the residents of the Vincent Place housing units who had moved into the newly built homes in 1999. The uncounted residents, including the Mayor and all four Council members, would help make up a projected tripling of the population acknowledged by the census. Previously, the Mayor and Council, as well as several other Vincent Place residents, had all been residents of Huyler Street, the only other street zoned as a residential area in the borough.
Teterboro was incorporated on March 26, 1917 from land taken from the boroughs of Moonachie and Little Ferry and from Lodi Township. The borough was enlarged in 1918 by the addition of area annexed from Hasbrouck Heights. On March 4, 1919 it acquired area from Lodi Township. The name Teterboro was changed in 1937 to Bendix Borough, and changed back to Teterboro Borough on June 1, 1943.
In the past, neighboring municipalities, such as Hasbrouck Heights and South Hackensack, have attempted to absorb Teterboro, hoping to reap the financial benefits (and lower property taxes) of doing so. Others have reasoned that the population is too small for the borough to justify its own existence. However, all such attempts have met with failure, due to resistance from residents and municipal officials.
Teterboro is best known as the home of Teterboro Airport (operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey) which takes up almost all of the borough.
