The View From the Top of the Empire State Building
.jpg)
I recently took a short vacation to NYC. Of course, it was my first day in the city, so I had to go to the top of the Empire State Building. Luckily, it was a gorgeous day, and the view was pretty nice. Check out the images I personally took from the top of the Empire State Building below. All of these images are raw and unedited. If you click on the images below, you'll see a high-res version on flickr. I think they'd make for some great desktop wallpapers.
Standing at 102 stories tall, The Empire State Building is the 2nd tallest skyscraper in America and the 9th tallest skyscraper in the World.
The project began on January 22, 1930 and only took 410 days to completely build. The Empire State Building officially opened on May 1, 1931, when President Herbert Hoover turned on the building’s lights from Washington, D.C.
The construction of the Empire State Building was part of a competition in New York for the title of the world’s tallest building. The project involved 3,400 workers, mostly immigrants from Europe. According to official accounts, five workers died during the construction.
