I've got a few and I know you've got some too! What addiction can you not kick? What are your vices, secret or otherwise? Which bad habits have you tried again and again to give up? Think of this as group therapy--this is a safe space!
Coffee!!!!
Ha, I probably took your idea! Aren’t we coffee-drinkers all trying to give up coffee? I have actually been successful a few times in the past, but man were those first couple of days HARD. A coffee-less day does not feel complete to me. I would almost venture to say that I don’t feel alive, and not b/c I’m sleepy—it’s just such an important part of my life! I’m not sure how to explain it, but I think it’s an addiction/vice/habit I don’t mind having.
A beautiful Cafe au Lait that I savored at Northampton Coffee in Massachusetts. I’m convinced the designs make it even better.
BIRTHDAY CAKE
Oh no…I can eat, SUPER SUGARY, disgusting cake. EVERY DAY…..literally, like it is MY own birthday everyday. Cake, is my number vice. It takes an extreme amount of self control to not buy myself one anytime I’m in the grocery store.
Sometimes I make cookies just to make the dough and eat it. I’ve been known to have a few tummy aches, but I never regret the stick of butter and raw eggs I just ingested.
Frank’s Red Hot sauce goes on EVERYthing: eggs, pizza, tuna, nachos, burgers, soup, chili, chicken—you name it. This jug would probably last me a month.
I would love to be “above” reality TV, but there IS something addictive about it. To make myself feel better, I remember that at most, I watch one 1-hour show or two half-hour shows per WEEK. I.e., I am not a TV person. It’s a shame though that often, the shows that fill this quota are CRAP. Like The Hills, Laguna Beach, Melrose Place and Models Inc (back in the day!).
I love potato chips. Any and all. I don’t care what flavor they are, what brand—I’ll take anything. I especially love Lay’s; they’re so light and crispy and perfectly salty.
No matter how full I am, there is always room for ice cream. I’ll eat it any of its many sister forms: gelato, soy ice cream, sorbet, frozen yogurt… Not to mention its other incarnations such as ice cream sandwiches, ice cream cake, banana splits, milkshakes etc… I don’t think I’ve ever met an ice cream I didn’t like. I recently had one of those IT’S-IT ice cream sandwiches for the first time and I nearly died. It’s an ice cream sandwich made out of oatmeal cookies and then it’s dipped in chocolate! It’s totally genius and delicious.
