In a city with more than 2.4 million people, it's still very easy to feel like the only vegetarian. After-all, Texas is all about it's steak, burgers, and BBQ. However, if you know where to look, you can stop overdosing on salad and eat a new variety of delicious, veggie-friendly meals.
Ziggy's Healthy Grill
Located at 2202 W Alabama St, Ziggy’s Grill is one of my personal favorites when it comes to vegetarian dining. Opened by two doctors who wanted to provide healthy options for casual dining, Ziggy’s menu offers a wide variety of delicious vegetarian meals. I highly recommend their tasty spinach quesadillas. And good news for pet lovers, dogs are welcome on Ziggy’s patio, and dog biscuits are on the house!
While not a strictly vegetarian restaurant (I’m pretty sure Frodo wasn’t eating veggie burgers on his quest to destroy the ring), the Hobbit Cafe still has a ton of vegetarian choices on it’s menu.
The Hobbit Cafe is located at 2243 Richmond Ave.
Baba Yega, located in Montrose
In addition to having a great atmosphere, Baba Yega has an entire section of it’s menu dedicated to just vegetarian dishes! They have a ton of vegetarian dishes to offer, including sandwiches, burgers, and even veggie meatloaf!
Arguably one of the best strictly-vegetarian restaurants in Houston, Hometown Vegetarian Cafe has a plethora of veggie dishes made to order, so everything is always fresh.
Hometown Vegetarian Cafe is located at 9888 Bellaire Blvd, Suite # 106.
Beck's Prime
You might be surprised to see a hamburger joint on this list, but Beck’s Prime has one of the most delicious veggie burgers in town. Their mesquite grilled veggies are also quite scrumptious, and very large for being labeled on their menu as merely a “side”.
