The truth behind the hair dye
This is my view of people (including myself) that do things like dye their hair in crazy colors, or those who seperate themselves from comformity. {WARNING} My spelling can be horrible at times.
What is your first reaction when you see someone with bright purple hair and 7-inch platform boots? Do you walk the other way as they adjust their spikes and chains on their clothing? Or do you consider them as another person in your town?
I’m used to getting nasty comments from people for the way that I dress. My pink hair will either give me many compliments or nasty remarks from random people. A stranger once aproached me and asked if I was an Anarchist, or just rebelling against society. I didnt take any offense to this, I just simply gave him the truth: “I dress this way to show everyone not to label people with stereo-types just because they are different. I myself work at the animal shelter and i’m in different community bands. I don’t cause havic amoung my family, or sacrifice animals. I just like to show off my creativity and bravery for standing out in a crowd.” The stranger thanked me for taking my time and talking to him. Then he left.
I personally think one of the greatest rewards is getting compliments from people, and being respected for the way i present myself. Sure, there are alot of people that don’t understand me or know me, so they disaprove of my style. Thats okay, they just aren’t used to some of the new styles and ways of society these days. I respect that. In my highschool, (Flagstaff High School) most of the students get along, and their styles and appearances don’t effect their relationships. Cheer leaders have lots of punk friends and goth friends, and the religous kids have athiest friends. This generation is starting to be more liberal when it comes to labeling other students, and having stereo-types. They don’t care about the outer differences. As long as they have common personalities, they all get along.
So, if you go out and meet new people, and some of them happen to be “Gothic” or “Punk” or “Preppy”, don’t push them away. You should really get to know everyone. Their personalities may suprise you in a good way. :)

I'm an extreme Marilyn Manson fan, but don't judge! I'm not one of those freaky people that kill small children and sacrifice animals to Satan. I'm the OPPOSITE. I volunteer at the Humane Society in Flagstaff, and I love and adore each and every animal there! Music is also a big thing in my life....
