Lower Manhattan, across from City Hall. Built at the turn of the century, this Gothic tower was one of the first skyscrapers in the city. Originally built for the Woolworth Department Store, this building now is closed to the public and is comprised of office space. This is one of my favorite pieces of architecture in the entire city. It is often lit up at night in pretty colors. Makes for great photos.
As seen in just about any movie or tv show involving New York City politics. Beautiful columned building where New York’s Mayor and city government works. Since 9/11 it has been blocked-off by security, preventing people to get to close to it, but there are many good views of it from City Hall Park, located in the same block.

Famous large triangular building at the corner of 5th Avenue and Broadway in Midtown. Much like the Woolworth Building, the Flatiron is closed to the general public but from personal experience, the inside is not as interesting as the outside. Very photogenic and is considered one of the most recognizable buildings in the city. seen in many movies and tv shows (Spiderman’s Daily Bugle was housed in the top floor). Close to Madison Square Park.
