The then and now. A comparison guide of back-in-the-day attire and the trendy now.
Take a Trip Down Memory Lane
To some of you, the 80’s was all about the party, the great time and the trendiest lifestyle one could imagine. To me, it was all about bad hair and ridiculous clothing. And music that seriously lacks talent and gives me a headache.
Anywayyy, I find it funny how trends change so drastically over time. It makes me wonder what I’ll be shaking my head at when I’ve aged..
Enjoy!
Having warm legs was trendy? hmmm...
THEN I’m pretty sure in the 80’s you weren’t considered fashionable unless you owned at least a dozen pairs of leg warmers. And didn’t you know, leg warmers go with EVERYTHING? Awe man. I can promise right now, I will never wear leg warmers. I don’t care if the 80’s came or are coming back. Leg warmers are funny lookin’.
NOW The footless tights. Or leggings. Now that’s better. I think it was about last year when footless tights became the hot thing. They’re cute and they go nice with that dress you have that’s just too short to be a dress and too long to be a shirt.

FLASHDANCE! party outfits
THEN I’m pretty sure it was the movie “Flashdance” that inspired the over-sized, off the shoulder sweatshirt and mini-skirt look. Throw some legwarmers and ballet flats on and it’s party time!
NOW A little cocktail dress is all you need nowadays. Thank god.

With Every Decade Comes a "Do"
THEN This one’s simple. The 80’s consisted of big hair, big hair, and BIG hair. Crimped, teased and at least 5 inches above the head. All around WIIIILDDDD. My friends say I use a lot of hairspray. And my mom makes me buy my own hairspray now, because I go through it so fast. But no. No no no. These kids must have used a ton of spray. I typed in “80’s hair” in google….Yikes.
NOW It’s all about the cute short cut or the loose curls. All about lots of layers, kinda choppy and straight. The new “do” for Fall 2008 is the low messy bun. Compared to that 80’s high pony-tale, we’ve come a long way. I think it’s a good thing people change ;)
VS.
The Traffic Stopper vs The Traffic Cone.
THEN Back then, it was hot to wear colors that could potentially blind you. Like traffic cone orange or highlighter yellow. Oh! Along with lots of ugly triangular patterns. And squiggles. Of contrasting color. Gagggggg.
NOW I’d say nowadays the hot trends are intended to “stop traffic” on purpose, rather than accidentally appearing like a traffic cone…. and stopping traffic.

Still stuck in the "THEN."
....I’d like to point out that that is ME. In my FLASHDANCE sweater…...whats even better, is it’s a NUGGETS dance team sweater that was my Mother’s from the 80’s. I love being stuck in the “then.”
Yeah, yeah – let’s just forget about the obvious here. Has anybody noticed that Michael Jackson’s fashion became more and more extravagant (read: crazy) since ‘83? 1983: simple, straight-forward Don Johnson-esqe suit. Less is definitely more.
