It is our family tradition to ski on Thanksgiving. We have been spending our Thanksgiving weekends in the summit county in Colorado for over 20 years now. It is a great way to kick off the ski season. Our favorite spot to stay is Breckenridge. It has the cozy small town feel and great skiing. I love walking around Breckenridge with my family at night with all the lights and pretty scenery. There is nothing like skiing all day to come home to the smell of turkey in the oven - yum! I decided to make this a community guide so I can get some recommendations on things to do for my Breckenridge Thanksgiving trip. If you have an idea please share!

Breckenridge is a town in Summit County, Colorado, United States. The population was 2,408 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Summit CountyGR6. Breckenridge is also a popular ski resort during the winter months, servicing multi-difficulty ski slopes on the Rocky Mountains. In the summer, the town turns into an outdoor lover's paradise with great hiking trails, beautiful wildflowers to see, fly-fishing in the Blue River, and nearby Lake Dillon for boating.

Frisco is a close by town that you pass through on your way to Breck from Denver. They have good food and shopping if you feel the need to get away from Breck for a couple of hours, not sure why.

Where to Stay
We have stayed in a number of places in Breck. Mostly rental houses/condos. We need a big kitchen to make out Thanksgiving dinner.
Gruber Haus
We have stayed here three times now. It has a really nice kitchen and you can get at least 20 people in there for Turkey.

The hot tub is just out those doors. It has a great view of the Breckenridge slopes.

Breckinridge is a great town. I love it anytime of year but especially during the holidays. We went during Oktoberfest this year and had an awesome time. Hope we get some snow soon!!
