What is it about summer that makes me feel exactly like I'm eight years old again? The season says I'm a kid, my bank statements and job requirements beg to differ. So what do you miss most about your childhood?
Playing Zelda For, Like, 8 hours Straight
How did we have the stamina? Maybe it was the continuous eating of the girl scout cookies that we were probably supposed to be selling:
Slip n' Slide!!
Yaaaaaaay!! I guess I could bust the slip n’ slide back out, but let’s be honest, adults do just look ridiculous on these.
Although these guys did a pretty good job of it . . .
Catching Fireflies
I haven’t seen any of these in California, but I remember chasing them around almost every night as a kid in Chicago.
Spoil my dinner by eating dessert FIRST
Who can resist a sugary treat…ever? Not I.
Diving for Rings
I could spend ALL day throwing these rings into the pool, diving in to find them, and doing it all over again. My friend and I would have contests and races and we seriously never got bored of it. I miss that!

TRAMPOLINAAA!
A new friend of mine has one in his backyard. I honestly forgot how entertaining they are! Anddd you get a good work out! DOUBLE WAMMMYYYYYY!
Crack Of The Little League Bats
OK, this is going to sound uber-sentimental, but you know when you pass a park and you hear that aluminum bat sound as some little guy finally makes contact with the ball? Yeah, I miss that. Because now I live in Oakland and all the kids are inside playing Rockband.
Copious Amounts of Ice Cream
Eating enough watermelon to get sick
Easily Entertained
I miss being easily entertained. I could spend all day in a small pool and have the time of my life. My only worry would be popping my innertube or stepping on a rock. The only decision I’d have to make would be which game to play after dinner: hide-n-go-seek or tag.
Being Outside Until The Sun Went Down
My sister and I would run around the backyard with the neighborhood kids, and never want to go inside. My mom would literally have to drag us indoors.
Regular slides are rad too!
Even if you stick to them in summer heat. I found this big one near my apartment in a sad sounding park called Tear Drop, but there ain’t nothing sad about it. Slide, sand pits, water playground! I love parks. :)
