The "My Room mates and I have the same class and none of us get it so we have to study in separate rooms" Study Method
This occurred during a shared Philosophy of Art class. My room mates and I weren’t exactly philosophers extraordinaire and boy did we struggle.
I specifically remember we had to sit in separate rooms while writing our papers because if we even got the slighest inkling of someone else’s answer it would have been on all three papers.
So, while I still struggle with is it art because the artist created it or is the person an artist because they created art I have fond memories of time spend with my BFF’s .
Oh. And a love of Magritte.
The "I'm going to go to the library but really I'm going to sit upstairs and stare out the window and look at people" Study Method
And. By people I most likely was looking at dudes. Lord knows why. It’s not like I woulda talked to them. I guess I just liked to SEE them?
I “read” many a textbook chapter this way.
The "I'm going to sit out in my yard with my book because it's so nice outside" Study Method
THAT lasted for about 10 minutes until my room mate would casually bring me a beer. That coupled with the tunes blasting from my AIWA stereo (Yes. It was likely DMB. I went to college in the 90’s. Cut me some slack.) usually ended up in a good girl gab session and/or an eventual migration to some sort of party or bar.
The "I Knew It in Class but Haven't Looked at it Since Then" Study Method
The good old “why study? I already know it” myth. This leads to cramming which in turn leads to forgetting which in turn leads to not knowing the stuff I need to know.
The thing is … I KNOW I should review throughout the week however the siren call of my saved up TIVO shows is sometimes too much to resist.
