Holiday Stocking Stuffer Ideas
I like to give a lot of small gifts rather than one really big gift. I'm one of those people who put together themed baskets and stockings. This year I've found a lot of spiffy gizmos and gadgets that would make for excellent stocking stuffers. They range in size and price so there's something for everyone's budget.
iPod Shuffle
I already have an iPod Touch, but I love these! They’re colorful, compact and I love that they clip on to your shirt or bag. I don’t like the lack of control and organization, so obviously this wouldn’t be for me. But for someone who just wants to rock out while going for a run, this is definitely a fun little stocking stuffer.
Lost Action Figures
I’m one of those stupid masochistic Lost fans who season after season say “No more! I can’t handle it!” but still tune in to be punched in the brain by the nonsense that is Lost. These little figurines are the perfect gift for other fans like myself.
Now this can go one of two ways. The message is plain and clear…or is it? This pendant is actually from an Etsy shop featuring Twilight-themed pendants. Mmhm…see where I’m going with this?
For the Twilight lovers, check out this Etsy shop. It’s full of pendants with quotes from the book as well as other cute/funny Twilight-themed necklaces.
Hugging Salt & Pepper Shakers
These can be found online at MOMA. They were designed by Alberto Mantilla in 2002. I thought they were too cute not to include in this guide.
Mixtape Flash Drive $15
What WON’T they turn into a flash drive? There’s humping dogs, sushi and a human thumb. So of course they’d turn something normal, like a cassette tap, into a flash drive.
Urban Outfitters has a fun collection of random gifts to choose from. Don’t like the USB drive? Be sure to explore the site and see if anything else tickles your holiday fancy.
Drip Clips $5.90
Drip clips is a cute addition to any desk, whether at the home or office. The faucet is magnetic so the clips dangle from it like droplets of water. You can probably find a great deal on blue paperclips at Staples or Office Depot.
I Am Not A Paper Cup $19.95
I kind of love this cup. It looks like a standard paper cup that you’d get from Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts, but it’s so much more. It’s a ceramic stand-in. That’s right. It’s a washable and reusable coffee cup that only looks like you grabbed it with your morning muffin.
Help reduce a family member’s, friend’s or SO’s carbon footprint by getting them this reusable coffee cup. Stop buying, tossing and buying again and again.
Be Smarter for $5.95
100 Words is “an informative and entertaining resource that can help anyone be right on the money when looking for words that will make a point, seal the deal or just keep folks listening.” It includes one-syllable words, those derived from names of famous people and popular cultural expressions.
100 Words can be found at Urban Outfitters and Amazon.com. It’s almost as exciting as word-of-the-day toilet paper!
Mini Cocktail Shakers
Target has these colorful mini cocktail shakers for $14.99. That might seem like a lot to pay for a little drink, but I think they’re adorable. It makes the perfect amount for a solo-drinker. Or they can be used as decoration in the kitchen or dining room.
Also be sure to check out the $1 section of Target. My roommate and I found a mini shaker and three mini cocktail glasses! All of that for LESS than $5. How could you go wrong?
Emotibud Earbud Set
These are great for the younger music lovers in your family. They’re cute, bright and colorful. They add more character to the standard white earbuds that come with your iPod.
Penguins $24.99
Okay, so the cookie jar might be too big for a stocking stuffer, but the salt and pepper shaker aren’t! You can wrap up the cookie jar separately.
The Yoga Deck $14.95
The Yoga Deck is a beautifully illustrated deck of fifty yoga poses and meditations for beginners and experts. Each easy-to-use card gives detailed instructions, benefits, and an affirmation.
These can be found on Amazon.com and I’ve even seen a few in Borders. It’s a thoughtful gift to give someone who is interested in or just getting started in the world of yoga.
Before we know it Christmas will be here once more. Even though it falls on the same date every month, I still feel like it creeps up on me. I’m THAT shopper out on Christmas Eve still trying to figure out what would be the best gift for so-and-so. This year I thought I’d get a head start on my Christmas shopping and do a little research. Plus, a little online shopping never hurt anyone (shh…!)
Here’s a guide from a teacher’s point of view. Instead of bringing in an apple or another choice fruit, why not treat your teacher to something he/she can actually use? And who knows, maybe your gift will score you some extra brownie points :)
Jamie over at Oh! How Lovely Shops has put together a series of gift guides including those for babies and teens. Check her out because she has some fantastic ideas and even more amazing giveaways each week.
