The City of St. George Public Transit System "SunTran" provides an economic alternative to driving. Covering most major destinations in the St. George area Sun Tran offers over 60 stops every hour. Sun Tran buses are comfortable all year round with air conditioning in the 100+ summer heat and warm in the lower winter temperatures. Convenient bus racks are also available holding 2 bicycles max on Sun Tran every vehicle, enabling you to take a rest or continue your trip to areas outside of the bus routes. Providing service on 3 different routes through St. George SunTran buses operate Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Transit Center is located at Dixie State College 100 South 1000 East. All bus routes start and end at the Transit Center with Routes 1-Red Cliffs and 3-Valley View will departing from the transit center on the half hour. Route 2- Riverside departs from the transit center on the hour with a transfer point to Route 3 bus at 100 S. 300 W. at 4 minutes after the hour.

From 1990 to 2000, St. George beat Las Vegas by 0.6% as the fastest growning metropolitan area in the U.S. The current metropolitan population numbers 109,924 residents.St. George is the population and commercial center of Utah's Dixie, a nickname given to the area when Mormon pioneers grew cotton in the warm climate. St. George's trademark is its geology — red bluffs frame the northern part of the city, and the northeastern edges of the Mojave Desert are visible to the south. Zion National Park can be seen to the east, and mountains are nearby to the north, southeast and west. It is also near Bryce Canyon National Park. The city is a popular retirement destination for many Utahns and is host to the largest Spring Break parties in Utah.
