Sports Fans Do Crazy Sh*t
Permanently tattooing your face, risking jail time, selling off a kidney on the black market for game tickets are just a few crazy examples of what people will do for their favorite sports team(s). Team loyalty is something to be felt but rarely explained--coming from a sports-heavy area like Pittsburgh, I find myself tongue-tied when trying to describe how much "being a Pittsburgher" is akin to "being a Steelers fan." It's your religion, your culture, your passion, so just like religious extremists, sports fans go to all kinds of lengths to love their teams. What have you done? What have you witnessed others do?
Run onto the field of a game!
If you’re going to run up to Derek Jeter, I wouldn’t wear a Giambi shirt or what looks like granny pants. Come on, have some class and respect.
Oh yeah, and you’re probably going to jail.
The mayor of Pittsburgh is a young 28-years old and happens to be cursed with the last name Ravenstahl. If you know anything the Pittsburgh Steelers, you’re aware that the Baltimore Ravens are their biggest rival, the games between the two of them usually ending up in a lot of flags, unsportsmanlike conduct and injuries.
In preparation for the playoff game between the Steelers and Ravens, Mayor Ravenstahl had his name officially changed to Steelerstahl through game day. AWESOME.
Put a tacky inflatable in your yard
I love lawn ornaments. LOVE. Why not be tacky AND team-lovin’ at the SAME time. Kill two birds with one stone.
They hit below the belt
I’m ashamed to say that my team, Da Bears, have some asshole fans. Also, this game was in December and that guy on the right is wearing shorts. Wtf?
Have you heard about this thing about tension between Yankees and Red Sox fans? Um…yeah. Is a favorite sports team really worth throwing someone over a stadium railing for and probably getting in loads of trouble? For some, yes it is.
I think I would just stick with the people who are chanting “Boston sucks.”
It Ain't An Eagles Game Without A Fist Fight
Though, admittedly, I would – you bet ’cha!
